Four mathematicians, three physicists, and an engineer are to be seated equally spaced around a circular table. How many differe

nt arrangements are possible if the mathematicians must all sit together (in four consecutive seats) and the physicists must all sit together (in three consecutive seats)? (As usual, two arrangements are identical if one is a rotation of the other.)

First, we can choose the seats for the four mathematicians.  Then we seat the physicits, then the engineer.  There are 4! ways to seat the mathematicians, then 3! ways to seat the physicists, then 1! ways to seat the engineer.  But then we must divide by 8, because we can rotate the table, so there are 8!*4!*3!/8 = 725760 ways to seat everyone.

i just confused on what the triangular prisms volume is. i think i’m doing it correctly but online says something different.
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

The answer for just the triangular prism's volume is 175 inches cubed.

If you need me to add how to find the volume of the rectangular prism, please comment that you also need this then.

Step-by-step explanation:

A triangular prism's volume is equal to the base area (which is a triangle) multiplied by the length of the prism.

So find the area of the triangle and multiply it by 10 inches in this case.

So  they are going to try to confuse on the triangle here because of they give three measurements where one of them is unnecessary in the formula .5bh.

The b and h represent the base and height respectively. The base and height of a triangle when intersected form 90 degree angle.

So we are using the 5 inches and 7 inches for it's height and base respectively.

The 9 inches is unnecessary in the calculation.

The volume if the triangular prism is found by doing .5(7)(5) times 10. The answer is in inches cube since inches*inches*inches=inches cubed or in^3.

.5(7)(5)(10)

.5(10)(7)(5)

(5)(35)

175

The answer for just the triangular prism's volume is 175 inches cubed.

If you need me to add how to find the volume of the rectangular prism, please comment that you also need this then.

An organization will give a prize to a local artist. The artist will be randomly chosen from among 10 painters, 3 sculptors, and
Fofino [41]

The probability is 8/18 or 44%.

Since there are 3 sculptors and 5 photographers, and the question is asking for either a sculptor or photographer, you add them together. There are a total of 18 artists, and the probability is the chance of a certain thing happening over the total amount of things that can happen (i.e. a coin landing on heads is 50%).

The answer would be 8/18.
