Answer:

The least whole number can be 750,000 and the greatest whole number can be 849,999.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

We need to find the least whole number that's rounds to 800,000 when rounding to the nearest hundred thousands,

Rule of rounding a number.

If the number on the right side of rounding digit is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 then no need to change the rounding digit and change the rest of the digit right to rounding digit with 0.

If the number on the right side of rounding digit is 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 then rounding digit rounds up by one number  and change the rest of the digit right to rounding digit with 0.

Now, consider the number 800,000 .

We want the least number so the number at the hundred thousands place should be 7.

We want to increase the number at the hundred thousands place by 1 so the least possible choice for tens place is 5.

Hence, the least whole number can be 750,000.

Now we want the greatest whole number that's rounds to 800,000 .

Similarly, for greatest whole number the number should be greater than 800,000 . We don't want to increase the number at the hundred thousands  place so the greatest possible choice for ten thousands place is 4. To make the largest number put 9 at the rest places.

Hence, the greatest whole number can be 849,999.

In a certain state, there are currently 5,902,060 acres of farmland. This area is decreasing at a rate of 4.3% every year. Selec
Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

y=5,902,060*(.957)^t

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the original amount would be decreasing and it's an exponential one, hence the "every year", we can determine that it's an exponential decay equation.

The exponential delay equation is y=A*(1-r)^t. The y is the remaining amount, A is the original amount, r is the rate in decimal form, and t is for years. "1-r" is for decreasing rates and "1+r" is for increasing rates.

First thing we need to do is turn the rate, 4.3%, from a percentage to a decimal. You can do this by moving the decimal two places to the right, which gives you 0.043.

Now plug the numbers into the equation.

y=5,902,060*(1-0.043)^t

Simplify what's inside the parenthesis and get your final equation.

y=5,902,060*(.957)^t
