Answer:

A) 47.3 g

Explanation:

2SO2(g) + O2(g) → 2SO3(g)

From the balanced equation above, we can tell that;

1 mol of oxygen molecule produces 2 mol of SO3 molecule.

At Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP), 1 mole of any gas will occupy a volume of 22.4 L.

This means 22.4 L of O2 produces 2 mol of SO3.

In order to calculate the mass of SO3 produced, we use the formular;

mass = Molar mass * Number of moles

Molar mass of SO3 = 32 + 16*3 = 32 + 48 = 80 g/mol

mass = 80 * 2 = 160g

This meas 22.4L produces 160g. How many g would 6.60 L produce?

22.4 = 160

6.60 = x

Upon cross multiplication,

x = (6.60 * 160) / 22.4

x = 47.14g

Magnesium reacts with Oxygen gas forming Magnesium oxide as shown;
LuckyWell [14K]
Molar mass:

O2 = 16 x 2 = 32.0 g/mol              Mg = 24 g/mol

2 Mg(s) + O2(g) --->2 MgO(s)

2 x 24.0 g Mg -------------> 32 g O2
5.00 g Mg -----------------> ( mass of O2)

mass of O2 = 5.00 x 32 / 2 x 24.0

mass of O2 = 160 / 48

= 3.33 g of O2

hope this helps!

Hi I need help with the Lab report for the 'Flame Lab' in edge
Ludmilka [50]

Flame test is a qualitative test which is used to identify the metal and metalloid ion in the sample.

What is Flame Test ?

A Flame test is used to identify the metal and metalloid ion in the sample. Flame test is a qualitative test. Not every metal ion emit color when it is heated in the gas burner.

What is the Purpose of Flame test ?

The purpose of flame test is used to find the identities of ions in two solutions of unknown composition by comparing the colors they produce.

What are the material used ?

  • Bunsen Burner
  • Matches
  • Gloves
  • Weighing dishes
  • Beakers

Thus from the above conclusion we can say that Flame test is a qualitative test which is used to identify the metal and metalloid ion in the sample.
