She has a 73% chance that the first track she plays is a track she likes. Because there are a total of 11 tracks. One track that's her favorite, 8 that she likes and 2 she dislikes which is a total of 11. Then divide 8 by 11 and you get 0.72727272 and so you round and convert it into a percentage which is equal to 73% which also equals to 8/11 chance.

1+2+8= 11
And she likes 8 out of the 11 tracks

So the probability is 8/11 or about 73%

Find an explicit rule for the nth term of a geometric sequence where the second and fifth terms are -6 and 162, respectively.
Vesna [10]

Answer:

b. an = 2 • (-3)^(n - 1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Before we test a solution or two, we can easily discard most of them.

We see the values alternate of signs (-5 for the 2nd term and +162 for the 5th term)... so the progression factor has to be negative (in order to alternate sign).  <u>That already excludes answers A and C.</u>

Normally, a geometric progression has the (n-1) exponent, not (n+1), so our chances seem to be better with B.

We can test both D and B with n = 2, to obtain -6

Let's test answer D before:

a_{2} = 2 * (-3)^{2+1} =  2 * (-3)^{3} = 2 * -27 = -54

The result is -54, not -6... so it's not the right result.

Let's test answer B then:

a_{2} = 2 * (-3)^{2-1} =  2 * (-3)^{1} = 2 * -3 = -6

Right!  Let's verify with n=5 to get 162:

a_{5} = 2 * (-3)^{5-1} =  2 * (-3)^{4} = 2 * 81 = 162

Confirmed, answer is B. an = 2 • (-3)^(n - 1)

Reptile [31]

Answer:

830 calories

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of calories in a muffin is directly proportional to the amount of sugar in the muffin.

Let the number of muffins be N and the amount of sugar in the muffin be A. This means that:

N α A

=> N = kA

where k = constant of proportionality

A 200 calorie muffin has 500 grams of sugar.

This implies that:

200 = k * 500

=> k = 200 / 500 = 2/5

The constant of proportionality is 2/5.

The number of calories in a muffin with 2075 grams of sugar is:

N = 2/5 * 2075

N = 830 calories

There are 830 calories.

A recipe for homemade goop calls for 1/4 cup of cornstarch and 1 1/8 of glue. Find the lcm.
evablogger [386]

2\frac{1}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

   \frac{1}{4} cup of cornstarch and 1\frac{1}{8} cup of glue are required for a recipe.

   For any two given fractions \frac{a}{b} , \frac{c}{d} , the L.C.M  is given by \frac{\textrm{L.C.M of numerators}}{\textrm{H.C.F of denominators}}.

   The given fractions are \frac{1}{4} and 1\frac{1}{8} = \frac{1\textrm{x}8+1}{8}=\frac{9}{8}

   L.C.M of numerators 1 and 9 = 9.

   H.C.F of denominators 4 and 8 = 4.

∴ L.C.M of \frac{1}{4} and 1\frac{1}{8} is \frac{9}{4} = 2\frac{1}{4}
