Answer:

1  5/16 gallon

Step-by-step explanation:

Gallon of ice brought by Karen = 3/8

Gallon of ice brought by Robin = 15/16

Total ice team brought by them is sum of Gallon of ice brought by Karen + Gallon of ice brought by Robin

Total ice team brought by Karen and Robin = 3/8 + 15/16

=>  3*2/8*2 + 15/16

we are multiplying with 2 both numerator and denominator in 3/8 so sas the denominator becomes 16 as in other fraction denominator is 16

=> 6/16 + 15/16

=> (6+15)/16 = 21/16

since 21/16 is improper fraction, converting it in mixed fraction we have

21/16 = 1  5/16 gallon

Thus , Karen and Robin have 1  5/16 gallon ice tea together.

An instructor gives her class a set of 10 problems with the information that the final exam will consist of a random selection o
marishachu [46]
<h2>Answer with explanation:</h2>

It is given that An instructor gives her class a set of 10 problems.

The final exam will consist of a random selection of 5 of them.

A student has figured out how to do 7 of the 10 problems.

We know that the probability of an event is defined as the ratio of  number of favorable outcomes to the total number of outcomes.

a)

The probability that he will answer all the 5 problems correctly is:

    given by:

\dfrac{7_C_5}{{10}_C_5}

Since he may chose 5 questions out of 7 questions that a student knows how to do and total outcomes is the selection of 5 questions from the total 10 questions.

Hence, on solving we get:

=\dfrac{\dfrac{7!}{5!\times (7-5)!}}{\dfrac{10!}{5!\times (10-5)!}}\\\\\\\\=\dfrac{\dfrac{7!}{5!\times 2!}}{\dfrac{10!}{5!\times 5!}}

On further solving we get:

Probability=0.083

b)

The probability that he will answer at least four correctly is given by:

                 \dfrac{7_C_4\times 3_C_1+7_C_5}{10_C_5}

( Since, he may answer correctly four or five questions)

( If he answer four answers correctly, this means he choose 4 questions from 7 questions and 1 from the remaining.

and if he answers five answer correctly then he choose it from the 7 questions a student know)

Hence, on solving we get:

Probability=\dfrac{2}{9}\\\\\\Probability=0.222

Hence, we get Probability= 0.222

In the diagram, AB is divided into equal parts. The coordinates of point A are _____, and the coordinates of point I are______ .
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

The coordinates of point A are (-10,-4). The coordinates of I are (-3.875,-10.125).

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the the line AB is divided into equal parts. Therefor distance between two consecutive points are equal.

The point D is mid point of A and F.

(x,y)=(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2})

(-8.25,-5.75)=(\frac{x+(-6.5)}{2},\frac{y+(-7.5)}{2})

-8.25=\frac{x-6.5}{2}

-16.50=x-6.5

-10=x

-5.75=\frac{y-7.5}{2}

-11.50=y-7.5

-4=y

Therefore the coordinates of A are (-10,-4).

Similarly the pint H is midpoint of F and B.

(-4.75,-9.25)=(\frac{x+(-6.5)}{2},\frac{y+(-7.5)}{2})

The values of x and y are,

x=-3

y=-11

Therefore the coordinates of B are (-3,-11).

The point I is mid point of HB. H(-4.75,-9.25) and B(-3,-11).

(x,y)=(\frac{-4.75-3}{2},\frac{-9.25-11}{2})

(x,y)=(-3.875,-10.125)

Therefore the coordinates of I are (-3.875,-10.125).
