The poverty threshold is a level that is determined by the federal government. The household poverty level is determined by the number of people who live in the home, with the poverty level rising as the number of residents increases.

Although a person may be employed, it does not mean that they have earnings about the poverty level. Being employed and having earnings above the poverty level are two separate items that are not dependent on each other.

Poverty is a worldwide problem that mainly affects underdeveloped countries, but it also occurs in developed countries such as the USA. The poverty line is a government-stimulated threshold whereby a traditional family of 4 living with a family income below $ 24,300 a year is considered poor. So imagine a family where the father and mother work, but not enough to accumulate the total of $ 24,300 per year, this family will be considered poor, because their income is below the poverty line.
