The length of a rectangular backyard is 6 more than the width of the backyard. The perimeter of the backyard is 44 feet. What is
german

Answer:

112

Step-by-step explanation:

use substitution method:

make 2 equations:

44 = 2(l+w)      l=w+6

plug in l:

44 = 2 (w+6+w)

combine like terms:

44 = 2(2w+6)

distribute:

44 = 4w + 12

get 4w alone:

44 = 4w + 12

-12           -12

__________

32 = 4w

Divide to get w alone :

32 = 4w

__     __

4        4

w=8

plug w in:

l = w + 6

l = 8 + 6

get l alone on one side:

l = 14

plug l and w in an are equation:

14 x 8 = 112
