Adaptors are gestures and movements that people make when they are facing with discomfort, stress or anxiety. Adaptors are done unconsciously and are not related with what the people is saying. These gestures are non verbal and are a way to use the excess of energy and provide comfort from uncomfortable situations.
Adaptors are unconscious, and can be signs of many things as they are menial gestures we create in response to certain situations. It's a form of nonverbal communication that doesn't really fall into any one category besides the first. My best guess is A, by this understanding.
