The scatterplot shows the ages and finishing times of seven men who ran a charity 5K run. Use the labeled points to create a lin

ear model that predicts the race time (y) of a man of any age (x). Which equation represents this linear model?
y=o.47x+7.72
y=0.47x+29.15
y=2.146x-27.57
y=2.146x-2.07

Answer:

0.47x + 7.72

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to create a Linear model using the given two points on the graph. The two points are: (21, 17.5) and (43, 2.75)

The general equation of the line in slope intercept form is

y = mx + c

where m is the slope and c is the y-intercept.

Calculating the slope:

slope=m=\frac{\textrm{Difference of y coordinates}}{\textrm{Difference of x coordinates}} \\\\ slope=m=\frac{27.75-17.5}{43-21}\\\\m=0.47

Using the value of m in above equation we get:

y = 0.47x + c

Calculating the y-intercept:

Using any of the given points we can calculate the value of c. Using the point (21, 17.5) in the above equation, we get:

17.5 = 0.47(21) + c

c = 17.5 - 0.47(21)

c = 7.63

Therefore, the equation is:

y = 0.47x + 7.63

Hence option a is the correct answer. The slight change in the value of "c" is because of rounding the value of m to 2 decimal places.

So from the given options, the correct answers is:

y = 0.47x + 7.72

Write fifty two and 40 hundredths in the standard form decimal
Mashutka [201]

Answer:

52.4

Step-by-step explanation:

40 hundredths as a decimal is 40/100 which is .40.

The "fifty two" is a whole number which is in front of the ".40" which makes 52.4 or 52.40.

The endpoints of CD are C(–8, 4) and D(6, –6). What are the coordinates of point P on CD such that P is the length of the line s
GalinKa [24]
If you graph the end points C and D then graph the 4 points at the end it is difficult to tell which points are on CD without a line.
Using the endpoints find the slope (change in y/ change in x) then substitute a point in to find the intercept.
Slope = (-6-4)/(6- -8) = -5/7
Intercept equation (-6) = -5/7 (6) + b
b = -1.71428571429
Graphing the line shows only 2 points on the line (–2.75, 0.25) and <span>(0.75, –2.25)
I am confused by the part, "</span><span>P is the length of the line segment from D".  Were you given a length P to help you determine which point.  Using the distance formula to find the length from each point to D doesn't help determine which one is best with the information you have given.  The image shows the distances I calculated and the graphed points.
I hope this helps!</span>
