Plugging in 0 doesn't work so you can automatically rule out option D.

Plugging in 1 is an easy one. 5.6 + 0.4(1) is 5.6 + 0.4 = 6. 6(1) is also 6. This rules out option A.

Now all we have to do is plug in 0.875 to see if it works. If it does, option C is the answer. If not, well... only leaves option B.

5.6 + 0.4(0.875) = 5.6 + 0.35 = 5.95

6(0.875) = 5.25

So 0.875 does not make the statement true.

Your answer is Option B.

three sets of the sum of a number and four are added to the sum of seven times the same number and thirteen
almond37 [142]

The algebraic expression for given statement is: 10x + 25 or 3(x + 4) + (7x + 13)

Solution:

Given the statement:

Three sets of a sum of a number and four are added to the sum of seven times the same number and thirteen

Let us first understand the given statement,

Let the number be "x"

" sum of a number and four" means x + 4

"Three sets of a sum of a number and four" translated to 3(x + 4)

"sum of seven times the same number and thirteen" means 7x + 13

Thus the algebraic expression for given statement is:

3(x+4)+(7x + 13)

Using distributive property in above expression

a(b+c) = ab + bc

Therefore,

3(x+4)+(7x + 13) = 3x + 12 + 7x + 13

Combine the like terms

3(x+4)+(7x + 13) = 10x+25

Thus the required expression for given statement is: 10x + 25 or 3(x + 4) + (7x + 13)

charlie had a circular patio with a radius of 6 feet. the radius is 12 bricks in length. how many bricks would be in the diamete
alex41 [277]

Answer:

24 Bricks.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know the radius is 6 feet and that the diameter is twice that.

We also know the radius is 12 'bricks' in length.

If we divide both numbers by 12, we get that 1 'brick' is half a foot.

Since that's the radius and we want the diameter, we multiply the radius by 2 to get the diameter.

This results in 12 feet, or 24 'bricks'.

0.25 r – 0.125 + 0.5 r = 0.5 + r . Solve for r.
kotykmax [81]
0.25r - 0.125 + 0.5r = 0.5 + r

0.75r - 0.125 = 0.5 + r |add 0.125 to both sides

0.75r = 0.625 + r      |subtract r from both sides

-0.25r = 0.625 |divide both sides by (-0.25)

r = - 2.5
