A gas storage cylinder in an ordinary chemical laboratory measures 6.6cm wide and 26.Cm high. This is the label on it. N2 gas Pr

essure: 14.9atm If the cylinder is opened and the gas allowed to escape into a large empty plastic bag, what will be the final volume of nitrogen gas, including what's collected in the plastic bag and what's left over in the cylinder? Answer:The final volume of nitrogen gas will be 13 L. Nitrogen gas was collected in the plastic bag.

Explanation:

Volume of the storage cylinder:

Volume of the cylinder = \pi r^2h

Diameter of the cylinder (d)= 6.6 cm

So, radius of the cylinder =\frac{d}{2}=\frac{6.6}{2}=3.3cm

Height of the cylinder = 26 cm

Volume of the cylinder==V_1=\pi r^2h=3.14\times (3.3cm)^2\times 26cm=889.05 cm^3=889.05\times 10{-3} L(1cm^3=10^{-3}L)

Pressure of the N_2 gas in a cylinder =P_1= 14.9 atm

The cylinder is opened and the gas allowed to escape into a large empty plastic bag. So, now the value of the pressureP_2 will become equal to atmospheric pressure that 1 atm .

Volume of N_2 gas in plastic bag V_2 will be given by the expression of Boyle's law

P_1V_1=P_2V_2

On substituting the values:

14.9\times 889.05\times 10^{-3} L= 1atm \times V_2=

V_2=13.24 L

The final volume of nitrogen gas will be 13.24 L when rounded of to two significant figures will be 13 L. Nitrogen gas was collected in the plastic bag.

What force determines the motions of planets and other objects in the solar system?
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

Gravity.

Explanation:

Gravity causes the motions of planets, stars, and galaxies. It's why the Moon orbits around the Earth, and the Earth orbits around the Sun, and the solar system orbits around the galaxy. It's all because of gravity. Gravity is the reason stars and planets are spherical.
