Answer:The final volume of nitrogen gas will be 13 L. Nitrogen gas was collected in the plastic bag.

Explanation:

Volume of the storage cylinder:

Volume of the cylinder = \pi r^2h

Diameter of the cylinder (d)= 6.6 cm

So, radius of the cylinder =\frac{d}{2}=\frac{6.6}{2}=3.3cm

Height of the cylinder = 26 cm

Volume of the cylinder==V_1=\pi r^2h=3.14\times (3.3cm)^2\times 26cm=889.05 cm^3=889.05\times 10{-3} L(1cm^3=10^{-3}L)

Pressure of the N_2 gas in a cylinder =P_1= 14.9 atm

The cylinder is opened and the gas allowed to escape into a large empty plastic bag. So, now the value of the pressureP_2 will become equal to atmospheric pressure that 1 atm .

Volume of N_2 gas in plastic bag V_2 will be given by the expression of Boyle's law

P_1V_1=P_2V_2

On substituting the values:

14.9\times 889.05\times 10^{-3} L= 1atm \times V_2=

V_2=13.24 L

The final volume of nitrogen gas will be 13.24 L when rounded of to two significant figures will be 13 L. Nitrogen gas was collected in the plastic bag.

Suppose that a 1.0-L reaction vessel initially contains 1.0 mol of O3 and 1.0 mol of O2. What fraction of the O3 will have react
NemiM [27]

Answer:

Explanation:

given reaction

                        2O₃        ⇄      3O₂

 initial                1                      1

    final           1-x                   1+ 1.5x

rate of reaction = k  [ O₃ ]² / [ O₂ ]

initial rate = k . 1² / 1 = k

final rate = k (1-x )² / (1+ 1.5x) = k/2

(1-x )² / (1+ 1.5x) = 1/2

2x² - 5.5 x + 1 = 0

x = 0.196

So fraction of ozone reacted = .196

Explain the changes that take place at the molecular level when a substance is superheated or supercooled ?
Katyanochek1 [597]
Only gas or vapor can be superheated. Use water as an example. Water at sea level boils at 212 degrees F. When heated to 212 degrees F, the molecules that make up water are moving at a high enough speed that they overcome the air pressure above the water. And for supercooled only liquids or solids can be supercooled for example Liquid water at sea level has a saturation (boiling) temperature of 212 degrees F. If we were to add heat to the saturated water, it would first boil away with no change in temperature (remember latent heat?) and then become superheated if still more heat were added to the vapor (steam) after it had all turned to a vapor.
