Duval County Landscaping uses two different sized trucks to deliver mulch. The first truck can transport x cubic yards of mulch,

and the second can transport y cubic yards of mulch. The first truck makes 12 trips to a job site, while the second makes 14 trips. Create an expression that represents the difference in the total number of cubic yards that the first truck delivers compared to the second.

Okay so truck a holds x and truck b holds y. truck a makes 12 trips and truck b makes 14
each time the deliver x or y amount
so say the amount needed at the site is z
truck a has the equation 12x=z
truck b has the equation 14y=z
so 12x=14y and dividing yields 12/14x=y
so that means 6/7x=y
so y can only hold 6/7 of what x can hold.
not sure about expression that represents difference wording. but this should get you off to a good start ;)

An automatic doughnut machine can produce 1500 doughnuts in 9 hours.
Svetllana [295]

Answer:

1 hr, 48 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

you can create a proportion:

doughnuts/hours = doughnut/hours (h)

1500/9 = 300/h

cross-multiply to get:

1500h = 2700

h = 27/15

h = 1 12/15, which is 1 hr, 48 minutes because 12/15 = 48/60

First, find the percentage of the price after the sale occures
percent = 100% - 20%
percent = 80%

We need to find the price for the pairs with the percentage above
new price = percentage of new price/percentage of old price × old price
new price = 80%/100% × 55
new price = 4/5 × 55
new price = 44
The new price is $44

Now we estimate how much the tax
tax = 6% × 44
tax = 6/100 × 44
tax = 2.64

Calculate how much Josie will pay
pay = new price + tax
pay = 44 + 2.64
pay = 46.64

Josie will pay $46.64
