Determine the number of protons neutrons and electrons in an atom of aluminum-27

Aluminium-27 is an isotope of aluminium characterized by the fact that is has a mass number equal to 27.

Now, an atom's mass number tells you the total number of protons and of neutrons that atom has in its nucleus. Since you're dealing with an isotope of aluminium, it follows that this atom must have the exact same number of protons in its nucleus.

The number of protons an atom has in its nucleus is given by the atomic number. A quick looks in the periodic table will show that aluminium has an atomic number equal to 13.

This means that any atom that is an isotope of aluminium will have 13 protons in its nucleus.

Since you're dealing with a neutral atom, the number of electrons that surround the nucleus must be equal to the number of protons found in the nucleus.

Therefore, the aluminium-27 isotope will have 13electrons surrounding its nucleus.

Finally, use the known mass number to determine how many neutrons you have

mass number=no. of protons+no. of neutrons

no. of neutrons=27−13=14

hope this helps.

What would happen to the air pressure on Earth's surface if the density of Earth's atmosphere were to suddenly double?A. The air
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

B. The air pressure would increase 2X

Explanation:

Pressure = density × acceleration due to gravity × height

p = ρ × g × h

Pressure is force per unit area

p = F/a

Density is mass per unit volume

Pressure is directly proportional to density hence, any change in the density of a body directly affects the change in pressure of the body and vice versa.

The area of a telescope lens is 6.676 x 10 mm. (a) What is the area in square feet (ft)? Enter your answer in scientific notatio
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

a) A = 7.186 E-4 ft²

b) t = 236.403 s

Explanation:

A = 6.676 E1 mm²

a) A = 6.676 E1 mm² * ( ft / 304.8 mm )²

⇒ A = 7.186 E-4 ft²

b) t = 51.7 s → A = 1.46 E1 mm²

⇒ relation (r) = 6.676 E1 mm² / 1.46 E1 mm² = 4.573

⇒ t = 51.7 s * 4.573 = 236.403 s
