In the form of a paragraph, explain in complete sentences, your answers to the following questions. Include the final answer in

your explanation. Complete your work in the space provided or upload a file that can display math symbols if your work requires it. Lisa is an avid runner and is training for a marathon. This week, over a span of six days, she ran a total of 38.4 miles. The distances, in miles, that Lisa ran throughout the week are as follows: 3.2, 7.5, 9.8, 11.5, 2.9, 3.5. What was the average distance of each run? Lisa's goal for this week is to run an average of 6 miles per day. How many miles does she need to run tomorrow (the 7th day) in order to achieve her goal of 6 miles per day for the week?

Lisa is an avid runner and is training for a marathon, so she runs everyday to achieve this purpose. In this way, she goes out to run for six days, so we have the following data set regarding the miles she runs:

1st day  = 3.2    miles
2nd day = 7.5    miles
3rd day  = 9.8    miles
4th day  = 11.5  miles
5th day  = 2.9    miles
6th day  = 3.5    miles

<span>Finally, she ran a total of:

3.2+7.5+9.8+11.5+2.9+3.5 = 38.4 miles

</span><span>What was the average distance of each run?

This result can be get as the sum of each run (or the </span>total of miles she run<span>) divided by the numbers of days she ran.

</span>A=\frac{38.4}{6}=6.4mi

<span>Lisa's goal for this week is to run an average of 6 miles per day. How many miles does she need to run tomorrow (the 7th day) in order to achieve her goal of 6 miles per day for the week?

Let's name x the distance she must run tomorrow. Therefore, the equation for this purpose is given as follows:

</span>\frac{3.2+7.5+9.8+11.5+2.9+3.5+x}{7}=6

∴ \frac{38.4+x}{7}=6

Isolating x:

38.4+x=42

∴ x=42-38.4=3.6

Therefore, she need to run:

\boxed{3.6mi} in order to achieve the goal of 6 miles per day.

Let A fa, b,c. B [a, b, d), and C tb, d,e. Find the union of A and B, and then the union of this with C. Also, find the union of
Andre45 [30]

Answer:  A ∪ B = {a, b, c, d}

               (A ∪ B) ∪ C =  = {a, b, c, d, e}

               B ∪ C =  = {a, b, d, e}

               (B ∪ C) ∪ A  =  = {a, b, c, d, e}

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

A = {a, b, c}       B = {a, b, d}         C = {b, d, e}

Union means "to join" so combine the sets to form a union.

A ∪ B = {A & B}

         = {a, b, c & a, b, d}

         = {a, b, c, d}          <em>because we do not need to list a & b twice</em>

(A ∪ B) ∪ C = {(A ∪ B) & C)

                  = {a, b, c, d & b, d, e}

                  = {a, b, c, d, e}     <em>because we do not need to list b & d twice</em>

<em />

B ∪ C = {A & B}

         = {a, b, d & b, d, e}

         = {a, b, d, e}           <em>because we do not need to list b & d twice</em>

<em />

(B ∪ C) ∪ A = {(B ∪ C) & A)

                  = {a, b, d, e & a, b, c}

                  = {a, b, c, d, e}     <em>because we do not need to list a & b twice</em>

The amount of arable land in the US in the year 2000 was 20% of total land area. Currently, the amount of arable land in the US
Slav-nsk [51]

The percent change in arable land area in the US over this time period is 12.5%

<h3>Percentage Change</h3>

From the question, we are to determine the percent change in arable land area over the given time

Let the total land area be x

From the given information,

In the year 2000, the amount of arable was 20% of total land area

That is,

Amount of arable land = 20% of x

Amount of arable land = 0.2 × x

Amount of arable land = 0.2x

Currently,

The amount of arable land is 17.5% of total land area

Amount of arable land = 17.5% of x

Amount of arable land = 0.175 × x

Amount of arable land = 0.175x

Thus,

Percent change = (0.2x - 0.175x)/0.2x × 100%

Percent change = 0.025x/0.2x × 100%

Percent change = 0.125 × 100%

Percent change = 12.5%

Hence, the percent change in arable land area in the US over this time period is 12.5%
