Why are they not equal? Please explain!!
Paladinen [302]

Answer:

The root of 16 is 4 and the root of 9 is 3.

Step-by-step explanation:

For the first instance, 16+9 is 25 and the root of that is 5. But for the second one, we have to first find the roots. So 4+3 which equals 7. These are obviously not equal. Does this make sense? Hope that helps.

A car purchased for $24,000 is expected to lose value, or depreciate, at a rate of 8% per year. This situation can be modeled by

Given two functions f(x)=2x+4 and g(x)=−1/5x−3 , what is the function rule for (f+g)(x) ?
Angelina_Jolie [31]

The definition is pretty simple:

(f+g)(x) = f(x)+g(x)

So, we only have to sum the expressions:

f(x)+g(x) = 2x+4 - \dfrac{1}{5}x-3 = \dfrac{9}{5}x+1
