Mathematics

To solve a problem about percent of change, you need to divide the amount of change by the original amount. To find the amount of change, subtract the initial amount from the final amount. The formula for percent of change can be written:

Percent of Change = (Final amount - Initial amount)/Initial amount

For example, If you start with 100 and end with 120, you would write:

Percent of change = (120 - 100)/100

Percent of change = 20/100

Percent of change = .2

Since you want a percent, you need to change the decimal to a percent. To do this, move the decmial place 2 places to the right and add a percent sign.

Percent of change = 20%

Find the vector that has the same direction as 3, 2, −6 but has length 2.
Nata [24]

Answer:

The vector is \vec r = \left(\frac{6}{7},\frac{4}{7},-\frac{12}{7}\right).

Step-by-step explanation:

We can determine the equivalent vector (\vec r), dimensionless, by means of the following formula:

\vec r = \frac{\vec u}{\|\vec u\|} \cdot \|\vec r\| (1)

Where:

\vec u - Original vector, dimensionless.

\|\vec u\| - Norm of the original vector, dimensionless.

\|\vec r\| - Norm of the new vector, dimensionless.

The norm of the original vector is determined by the following definition:

\|\vec u\| = \sqrt{\vec u\,\bullet \,\vec u} (2)

If we know that \vec u = (3, 2, -6), then the norm of the original vector is:

\|\vec u\| = \sqrt{(3)\cdot (3)+(2)\cdot (2)+(-6)\cdot (-6)}

\|\vec u\| = 7

If we know that \|\vec r\| = 2, then the new vector is:

\vec r = \frac{2}{7}\cdot (3,2,-6)

\vec r = \left(\frac{6}{7},\frac{4}{7},-\frac{12}{7}\right)

The vector is \vec r = \left(\frac{6}{7},\frac{4}{7},-\frac{12}{7}\right).

Convert <br> [−1,∞) to inequality notation use the variable x.
Trava [24]

Answer:

-1\leq x

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to convert the interval [-1, ∞) to inequality notation using <em>x</em> as the variable.

The interval [-1, ∞) reads: "All real numbers between -1 and positive infinity."

In other words, it is all numbers greater than or equal to -1 and less than positive infinity.

Therefore:

-1\leq x

Note that we do not use "or equal to" for the infinity as we can never really "equal" infinity.
