The correct answer is:  [D]:  " 7.2 units" .
_______________________________________________________
Explanation:
________________________________________________________
Use the Pythagorean theorem:

a² + b² = c² ;

in which:  "6 units" and "4 units" equal the lengths of the right angle (formed by the rectangle);  and "c" is the length of the diagonal of the rectangle, or the "hypotenuse", of the right triangle formed by the rectangle;  We wish to solve for "c" ;
_______________________________________________

6² + 4² = c² ;  Solve for "c" ;

↔ c² = 6² + 4² ;

         = (6*6) + (4*4) ;

         = 36 + 16 ;

        =  52 ;

    c² = 52 ;

Take the "positive square root" of each side of the equation; to isolate "c" on one side of the equation; and to solve for "c" ;

  √(c²)  =  √52 ;

    c = √52 ;

At this point, we know the 7² = 49 ;  8² = 64 ;  so, the answer is somewhere between "7" and "8" ; yet closer to "7" ;  so among the answer choices given;

The correct answer is:  [D]:  " 7.2 units" .

However, let use a calculator:

c = √52 = 7.2111025509279786 ; which rounds to "7.2" ;
   which corresponds to:

Answer choice:  [C]:  " 7.2 units" .

Jim spent 3/8 of his money on eggs. he spent 2/5 of the rest of his money on butter. he had $6.72 left. how much money did him s
anastassius [24]
First make the denominator equal for both fractions.
The LCM of 8 and 5 is 40, so 40 will be the common denominator.
3/8=15/40 and 2/5=16/40
Add them together.
15/40+16/40=31/40
He has 9/40 of his money left, which means 9/40 of the total money=$6.72
Make an equation to solve for how much money he had when he started (x).
6.72/x=9/40
After solving, x= about $29.87

Answer:

D 12½%

Step-by-step explanation:

∆=1.5/2-2/3

=4.5/6-4/6

=0.5/6

∆=0.083 $/lb

X=∆/(original price)•100

=0.083/(2/3)•100

=0.1245•100
