Mathematics

Remark

The easiest way to graph this is to get a program to do it for you. Desmos is ideal.

Problem 7a

The graph is down below the rest of the answer. 5x + 2y = 150

x and y intercepts.

The x intercept is marked as 30. That was derived by letting y = 0 to get

5x = 150   divide by 5

x = 150 / 5

x =  30

So if you buy NO wristbands, you can get 30 keychains

The y intercept occurs when x = 0

2y = 150    Divide by 2

y = 150 / 2

y = 75 That means if you buy NO keychains, you can buy 75 wrist bands.

Problem 7b

For this problem x = 18

5*18 + 2y = 150

90 + 2y = 150        Subtract 90 from both sides.

2y = 150 - 90

2y = 60                  Divide by 2

y = 60/2

y = 30

Conclusion

You can buy 18 key chains (given)

You can buy 30 wristbands (calculated)

Find the Value of X. If your answer is not an integer, express it in simplest radical form.
Gennadij [26K]
For each question we must apply the Pythagorean theorem and clear the value of x.
question 5
x = root (14 ^ 2 + 16 ^ 2)
x = root (452)
x = 2raiz (113)
question 6

x = root (8 ^ 2 + 15 ^ 2)
x = 17
question 7

x = root (12 ^ 2 + 12 ^ 2)
x = root (2 * (12 ^ 2))
x = 12raiz (2)
question 8
x = root (18 ^ 2 - 9 ^ 2)
x = root (243)
x = 9raiz (3)

Andy has a collection of movie dvds. in andys collection 3/5 of the dvds are action 1/4 of the dvds are comedy. andy said that 4
Lerok [7]
If 3/5 are action and 1/4 are comedy then:

(3/5)+(1/4) are action or comedy

To add/subtract fractions you need a common denominator...

(3/5)*(4/4)+(1/4)(5/5)

(12/20)+(5/20)

17/20

So 17/20 (85%) of his collection are action or comedy not 4/9...
