So in the first shape (yellow one) it seems to be scaling up, meaning it is bigger than before. It goes from 4cm to 16cm. You have to find the number you need to multiply 4cm by to get to 16cm. 4cm times ____ = 16cm. I usually do a guess and check strategy, after a few numbers, 4 x 4 = 16. Now you to multiply 8cm^2 (which is the area of the first shape) by 4.

After this, you get 32cm^2. That is the answer for the first one. Fill in "32" in the blank.

Now for the second one it seems to be the same type of problem, but instead of scaling up its scaling DOWN. The opposite of multiplying is dividing, so for this one you have to find out what to divide by. 24cm divided by ___ = 8cm. I found the answer to be 3cm after testing multiple numbers. Now you divide 270cm^2 by 3.

After this, you get 90cm^2 as the answer. This is the answer for the second green shape. Fill in "90" in the blank.

Destiny and Alicia both leave the coffee shop at the same time, but in opposite directions. If Alicia travels 4 mph faster than
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer: Destiny's speed is 11 mph.

Alicia's speed is 15 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Destiny and Alicia both leave the coffee shop at the same time, but in opposite directions. If they are 78 miles apart after 3 hours, it means that the total distance that they covered in 3hours is 78 miles

Let x represent the speed at which Destiny travelled. If Alicia travels 4 mph faster than Destiny, it means that the speed at which Alicia travelled is (x + 4) mph

Distance = speed × time

Distance covered by Destiny in 3 hours is

3 × x = 3x

Distance covered by Alicia in 3 hours is

3(x + 4) = 3x + 12

Since the total distance is 78 miles, then

3x + 3x + 12 = 78

6x = 78 - 12 = 66

x = 66/6 = 11 mph

Alicia's speed is

11 + 4 = 15 mph

I need to know the answer
Shkiper50 [21]

Answer:

x = 17

Step-by-step explanation:

-1 is the same as minus-ing it by 1.

10 + x - 1 = 26.

10 + 16 - 1 = 25, so it must not be x = 16.

x = 17. lets try it.

10 + 17 - 1 = 26!!
