A bird flies from the bottom of a canyon that is 71 4/5 feet below sea level to a nest that is 875 7/10 feet above sea level. Wh
Rainbow [258]

The difference in elevation between the bottom of the canyon and the bird's nest is 947 1/2 feet

<h3>What is the difference in elevation between the bottom of the canyon and the bird's nest?</h3>

The given parameters are:

Nest = 71 4/5 feet above the seal level

Bottom of canyon = 875 7/10 below sea level

Below sea level means negative

So, we have:

Nest = 71 4/5 feet

Bottom of canyon = -875 7/10

The difference in elevation between the bottom of the canyon and the bird's nest is calculated as

Difference = |Nest - Bottom of canyon|

This gives

Difference = |71 4/5 - (-875 7/10)|

Evaluate the difference

Difference = |947 1/2|

Remove the absolute bracket

Difference = 947 1/2

Hence, the difference in elevation between the bottom of the canyon and the bird's nest is 947 1/2 feet

Consider the parametric curve:
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

By the chain rule,

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=\dfrac{\frac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dt}}{\frac{\mathrm dx}{\mathrm dt}}=\dfrac{4\sec t\tan t}{3\sec^2t}=\dfrac43\sin t

When t=\pi, we have

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}\bigg|_{t=\pi}=\dfrac43\sin\pi=0

Solve the following system of equations by elimination
olya-2409 [2.1K]

Answer:

y = -6

x = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

-x + 2y = -13

-x - 2y = 11

Sum the equations:

-x -x = -2x

+2y - 2y = 0

-13 + 11 = -2

then

-2x = -2

x = -2/-2

x = 1

from the first eq.

-x + 2y = -13

-1 + 2y = -13

2y = -13 + 1

2y = -12

y = -12/2

y = -6

check:

from the second eq.

-x -2y = 11

-1 -(2*-6) = 11

-1 -(-12) = 11

-1 + 12 = 11

On Saturday, Conner drives 62 1/4 miles each hour. If he travels for 4 hours, how many miles does he travel altogether? please h
Taya2010 [7]
You would multiply 62 1/4 and 4. Which you cant do that so you would have to make it into a inproper fraction so that will be 249/4 times 4/1 then you can multiply which your answer would be 996 /4 and then in simplest form would be 249/1= 249
