How do you factor quadratics by grouping

Mathematics

Here's an example Its also call the 'ac' method:-

factor  2x^2 - 13x - 15

Multiply first coefficient by last number  which is 2*-15 = -30

Now we need 2 factors of -30 which will when added give - 13:-

-15 and 2  looks good. So we  can write:-

2x^2 - 13 x - 15

= 2x^2 + 2x - 15x - 15

factor by grouping first 2 and last 2 terms , we get:-

= 2x(x + 1) - 15(x + 1)

the x+1 is common so we have:-

(2x - 15)(x + 1)   Answer

Hope this helps.

Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

108 pi inches cubed

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of a cylinder is base area times volume. Since we have our base area of 12 pi, and our height of 9, we have the are as 12* 9 = 108 pi inches cubed. Thus, the answer is D.

Sloan [31]

Answer:  3x^2y\sqrt[3]{y}\\\\

Work Shown:

\sqrt[3]{27x^{6}y^{4}}\\\\\sqrt[3]{3^3x^{3+3}y^{3+1}}\\\\\sqrt[3]{3^3x^{3}*x^{3}*y^{3}*y^{1}}\\\\\sqrt[3]{3^3x^{2*3}*y^{3}*y}\\\\\sqrt[3]{\left(3x^2y\right)^3*y}\\\\\sqrt[3]{\left(3x^2y\right)^3}*\sqrt[3]{y}\\\\3x^2y\sqrt[3]{y}\\\\

Explanation:

As the steps above show, the goal is to factor the expression under the root in terms of pulling out cubed terms. That way when we apply the cube root to them, the exponents cancel. We cannot factor the y term completely, so we have a bit of leftovers.

Please help <br> The factors of -18 are listed in the table …
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

x= -2 and 9

Step-by-step explanation:

x ^{2}  + 7x - 18

factorize it

- 18 = 2×3×3

TO MAKE IT 7

3×3=9

9-2 =7

x ^{2}  + 9x - 2x - 18x = 0

x(x+9)-2(x+9)=0

x-2=0 ,x+9=0

x =2 x=-9
