Answer: 2.8 m/s

Explanation:

Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body due to virtue of its motion - speed.

K.E. = 0.5 m v²

mass, m = 12 kg

speed, v = 2.0 m/s

K.E. = 0.5 × 12 × 2.0² = 24 J

For kinetic energy to be twice of the initial i.e. (24×2 = 48 J), the speed must be

48 J = 0.5 × 12× v'²

v' = \sqrt{\frac {48 \times 2}{12}}\sqrt 8 = 2.8 m/s

Thus, at speed 2.8 m/s, the sled would have twice amount of kinetic energy.

Explain the relationship between resistance and the velocity of shortening.
butalik [34]
The velocity of shortening refers to the speed of the contraction from the muscle shortening while lifting a load. The relationship between the resistance and velocity of shortening is inverse. The greater the resistance, the shorter the velocity of shortening and the smaller the resistance, the larger the velocity of shortening.

Hopefully this help :)

In ionic bonds what happens to electrons?
OverLord2011 [107]
I think the correct answer from the choices would be that metals donate electrons to nonmetals. Ionic bonding involves transfer of valence electrons. The metal looses its valence electrons which makes it a cation while the nonmetal accepts these electrons.

A light, rigid rod is 55.8 cm long. Its top end is pivoted on a frictionless horizontal axle. The rod hangs straight down at res
VMariaS [17]

To solve this problem we will apply the principle of conservation of energy. For this purpose, potential energy is equivalent to kinetic energy, and this clearly depends on the position of the body. In turn, we also note that the height traveled is twice that of the rigid rod, therefore applying these concepts we will have

KE = PE

\frac{1}{2} mv^2 = mgh

v = \sqrt{2gh}

v = \sqrt{2(9.8)(2(55.8*10^{-2}))}

v = 4.67m/s

Therefore the minimum speed at the bottom is required to make the ball go over the top of the circle is 4.67m/s
