The given statement is false. Plague can be transmitted from animals to humans as well as humans to humans.

Plague is a type of infectious disease caused by bacteria Yersinia pestis and it affects rodents, some animals and human beings. Human beings are infected by plague on being bitten by flea which is infected with the bacteria causing plague.

On direct contact with the infectious tissues or fluids of animals infected or have died due to plague also increases the risk of being infected by plague. By inhaling respiratory droplets of the humans or animals in close contact infected by plague increases the chances of infection in humans.
