Sunlight. 

Plants turn sunlight into energy through a process called photosinthesis. That energy is passed along the food chain.

sunlight --> plants --> herbavores/carnivores --> humans
(the food chain has many different turnouts, this is just a small example)

It has to be water because sunlight isnt a food, wind isnt either and soil we dont eat
