720 million pounds apples grown in new york and 494 million pounds apples grown in Pennsylvania

Solution:

Let "x' be the apples grown in new york

Let "y" be the apples grown in pennsylvania

Given that,

Together the two states produced 1214 million pounds of apples

Therefore,

x + y = 1214 -------- eqn 1

New York produced 226 million pounds more apples than Pennsylvania

Therefore,

x = 226 + y ------- eqn 2

Substitute eqn 2 in eqn 1

226 + y + y = 1214

226 + 2y = 1214

2y = 1214 - 226

2y = 988

Divide both sides by 2

y = 494

Substitute y = 494 in eqn 2

x = 226 + 494

x = 720

Thus 720 million pounds apples grown in new york and 494 million pounds apples grown in Pennsylvania

What inergers that are greater than zero
Sav [38]
Half of all the integers are ... all of the positive "counting numbers".

The total number is infinite, so I can't list them here. But if you start at '1 '
and count, you can never name ALL of them, but you can name as many
of them as you want to.
