Separation techniques:

Pure substances cannot easily be separated by physical methods whereas impure substances can easily be separated into their constituents by physical methods.

Composition:

Pure substances have definite composition both macro and microscopically whereas impure substances have indefinite compositions as they are composed of two or more elements and compounds in any proportion by mass. Impure substances retain their identities i.e physical properties are retained.
