In your lab, a substance's temperature has been observed to follow the function T(x) = (x + 5)3 + 7. The turning point of the gr

aph is where the substance changes from a liquid to a solid. Using complete sentences in your written answer, explain to your fellow scientists how to find the turning point of this function. Hint: The turning point of the graph is similar to the vertex of a quadratic function.

So essentially, this is a cubic function where T(x) = y, and:
y =  {(x+5)}^{3} +7
In order to find the vertices, aka "turning points", we need to see around what area the graph will curve quickly from bottom-left to top-right. If the value being cubed (in the parentheses) is around -8, y will be close to 0, since -8+7=-1. (-2)^3 = -8. So x+5=-2, x=-7.
At x=-6, y = (-6+5)^3+7 = (-1)^3+7
y = -1+7 = 6
At x=-5, y = 0+7 = 7
Above x=-4, the y jumps rapidly above 10, and below x=-9, the y jumps rapidly below -50
What does all that mean???
That between x = -9 and x = -4 (x = -4,-5,-6,-7,-8,-9), the temperature (T(x) or y) does not change very much. Therefore, around those temperatures is a turning point, where the phase shift occurs from solid/liquid.

4/7 - -3/5 step by step pls explain
lidiya [134]

Answer:

41/35

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplify the following:

4/7 + 3/5

Put 4/7 + 3/5 over the common denominator 35. 4/7 + 3/5 = (5×4)/35 + (7×3)/35:

(5×4)/35 + (7×3)/35

5×4 = 20:

20/35 + (7×3)/35

7×3 = 21:

20/35 + 21/35

20/35 + 21/35 = (20 + 21)/35:

(20 + 21)/35

Your customer is located 100 miles from your office.
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

8:02 AM

Step-by-step explanation:

Find out how many minutes it takes to travel one mile:

60 divided by 45= 1.333334 minutes

It takes 1.333334 minutes to travel 1 mile, how long will it take to travel 100 miles:

1.333 times 100 = 133.3334

133.3334 rounds to 133 minutes

Add 15 minutes because you want to arrive early

133+15=148

Divide it by 60

148 divided by 60 = 2.466667

or do

148-120 (2 hours) = 28 minutes

It will take 2 hours and 28 minutes to get there

10:30-2:28= 8:02
