"Two numbers are 10 units away in different directions from their midpoint, m, on a number line" so these two numbers are 20 units apart (2*10 = 20) if x and y are the two numbers, then x-y = 20 where x is the larger number we also know that x*y = -99 so one of the numbers is positive while the other is negative. i think its (x-10)(x+10)=-99. hope i could help.

I am a little confused: One method you can use to determine whether a triangle is a right triangle, given three side lengths, is
Vsevolod [243]
Trigonometric ratios are sine, cosine, and tangent (opposite side over hypotenuse, adjacent side over hypotenuse, and opposite side over adjacent side, respectively); if you wanted to prove that one of the angles of the triangle is 90º, then the cosine of that angle would be 0, the sine would be 1, and the tangent would be undefined.

map of a city uses the scale 1 cm equals 50 m. On the map, South Street is 25 cm long. If there is a traffic cone at the start
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

125 traffic cones

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find the total number of meters, we can set up a proportion to find based on the ration of cm to m:

\frac{centimeters}{meters}=\frac{1}{50}=\frac{25}{x}, where 'x' is the number of meters

cross-multiply: x = 25(50) or x = 1250 m

Since there is a cone every 10 m, we can divide the total number of meters by 10:

1250/10 = 125 cones

The probability of winning a certain lottery is 1/77076 for people who play 908 times find the mean number of wins
Alex73 [517]

The mean is 0.0118 approximately. So option C is correct

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that , The probability of winning a certain lottery is \frac{1}{77076} for people who play 908 times

We have to find the mean number of wins

\text { The probability of winning a lottery }=\frac{1}{77076}

Assume that a procedure yields a binomial distribution with a trial repeated n times.

Use the binomial probability formula to find the probability of x successes given the probability p of success on a single trial.

n=908, \text { probability } \mathrm{p}=\frac{1}{77076}

\text { Then, binomial mean }=n \times p

\begin{array}{l}{\mu=908 \times \frac{1}{77076}} \\\\ {\mu=\frac{908}{77076}} \\\\ {\mu=0.01178}\end{array}

Hence, the mean is 0.0118 approximately. So option C is correct.
