In a projectile motion, there are two components: horizontal and vertical. The vertical component is in a uniformly accelerated motion. The motion is always directed downwards due to the force of gravity. The horizontal component (constant velocity) on the other hand must move in the horizontal axis. They can never be parallel on the trajectory.

They can only by parallel during a free fall motion, wherein no change of horizontal direction occurs.

The ___ of a parabola is the line, along with a point not on the line, which is used to generate a parabola.
enot [183]

Answer:

Directrix

Step-by-step explanation:

The <u>directrix</u> of a parabola is the line, along with a point not on the line (which is the <em>focus</em>), which is used to generate a parabola.  The <em>directrix</em> is parallel either to the x- or y-axis, and is perpedicular to the parabola's axis of symmetry (at x = h).

Therefore, the correct answer is "<u>directrix</u>."

-5,-1,3,7......<br> Write the first term a and the common difference d
VMariaS [17]
The appropriate formula here is l = a + (n-1)d, where l represents the last term.

Here the first term is -5 and the common difference is +4.  Thus,

l = -5 + (n-1)(4)    (answer)

Check:  we are given the arith sequence -5, -1, 3, 7.    Does our formula correctly predict the 1st term?  l = -5 + (1-1)(4) = > -5.  Yes.
Does it correctly predict the 3rd term?  l = -5 +(3-1)(4) => -5+2(4) = 3.  Yes
