Viruses are generally considered to be nonliving. Should viroids and prions also be viewed as nonliving? Why or why not?
katen-ka-za [31]
Yes they should be viewed as nonliving. Because viroids are just like viruses without protein coats. They are similar to viruses excepte the protein coat. And prions are like malfunctioned proteins. They cause diseases too but they are non-living too. Because they too, don't have any metabolics reactions.

Normal development of the immune response is due in part to hormones produced by the _______
oksano4ka [1.4K]

The immune response is the body's defense mechanism against the pathogens. The immune response of the body protects it from bacteria, viruses and multiple other disease causing organisms. The normal development of this protective immune response of the body is produced by as a result of the hormones which are produced by the thymus gland. The thymus gland produces the T-lymphocytes, which are important for a healthy immune response. The thymus gland secretes thymosin which is crucial for the development of these cells.

Hence, the answer is 'thymus gland'.

How do body systems work together to maintain homeostasis
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer: By Hormonal action and Nervous coordination

Explanation:

Hormones are substances produced by one tissue and conveyed by the bloodstream to another to effect physiological activity. Homeostasis is the maintenance of a stable internal environment in the body.

Body systems such as digestive, circulatory, excretory systems etc, all are coordinated to achieve a STABLE INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT by the aid of HORMONES AND/OR NERVOUS COORDINATION.

For Example: the vasodilation of blood vessels during hot weather, and the opposite action of vasoconstriction during cold weather are both controlled by Hormonal action and nervous coordination which leads to a stable body temperature preventing excess heat accumulation.

Also, Nervous system controls the body systems, such that the muscle contractions are joined to actions like sweating, breathing, respiration etc

So, to maintain homeostasis hormonal action and Nervous coordination is necessary.
