Although certain genetic factors may influence the likelihood that a child might get cancer, I would reject the statement.

Primarily, the cause of cancer is not a single event, although large exposure to radiation for example may drastically increase the chance of cancer. Micronized events throughout life may increase the chances of a genetic mutation that would result in cancer.
