Let the horizontal distance is x and vertical distance is y and the distance between them is z
z^2 = x^2 + y^2
2z(dz/dt) = 2x(dx/dt) + 2y(dy/dt) divide by 2
z(dz/dt) = x(dx/dt) + y(dy/dt)
when y = 45 , x = 0 because the boy was under the balloon
after 3 secs: x = 15 * 3 = 45 , y = 5 * 3 = 15 , z = sqr(x^2 +y^2) = 75
z(dz/dt) = x(dx/dt) + y(dy/dt)
75(dz/dt) = 45(15) + 15(5) = 975
dz/dt = 13 ft/sec

Two trains leave a city at 3 P.M. One train goes east at a constant rate of 70 mph. The other goes west at a rate of 62 mph. How
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

4 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

The general formula for distance, rate and time is:

d = rt, where distance is the product of rate multiplied by time

Given that one train is moving at a rate of 70 mph and one is moving at a rate of 62 mph in the opposite direction, the combined distance over time is equal to 528 miles. Using the variable 't' for time:

70t + 62t = 528

Combine like terms: 132t = 528

Divide both sides by 132: 132t/132 = 528/132 or t = 4 hours

The point g (2,2) is translated 3units to the right and 4units up what are the coordinates of this resulting point, g?
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

(5,6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Generally, is the coordinate (x,y) is translated right by a units and up by b units, the resulting coordinate wil be;

g(X, Y) = (x+a, y+b)

To the right is along the positive x axis while up is along the positive y axis

Given a = 3 and b = 4

g(X,Y) = (2 + 3, 2 + 4)

g(X, Y) = (5, 6)

Hence the resulting coordinate of g is (5,6)
