Answer:

The focal length of the lens in ethyl alcohol is 41.07 cm.

Explanation:

Given that,

Refractive index of glass= 1.500

Refractive index of air= 1.000

Refractive index of ethyl alcohol = 1.360

Focal length = 11.5 cm

We need to calculate the focal length of the lens in ethyl alcohol

Using formula of focal length for glass air system

\dfrac{1}{f}=(n_{g}-n_{a})(\dfrac{1}{R_{1}}-\dfrac{1}{R_{2}})

Using formula of focal length for glass ethyl alcohol system

\dfrac{1}{f'}=(n_{g}-n_{ethyl})(\dfrac{1}{R_{1}}-\dfrac{1}{R_{2}})

Divided equation (II) by (I)

\dfrac{f'}{f}=\dfrac{n_{g}-n_{a}}{n_{g}-n_{ethyl}}

Where, n_{g} = refractive index of glass

n_{a} = refractive index of air

n_{ethyl} = refractive index of ethyl

Put the value into the formula

\dfrac{f'}{11.5}=\dfrac{1.500-1.000}{1.500-1.360}

\dfrac{f'}{11.5}=\dfrac{25}{7}

f'=\dfrac{25}{7}\times11.5

f'=41.07\ cm

Hence, The focal length of the lens in ethyl alcohol is 41.07 cm.

The thermal conductivity of a sheet of rigid, extruded insulation is reported to be k=0.029 W/m.K. The measured temperature diff
klasskru [66]

Answer:

flux=13.92W/m^2

Explanation:

The heat transfer by conduction consists in the transport of energy through particles that are together, that is to say by means of solids, Newton developed an equation that allows to know the heat transported in a flat plate knowing the cross sectional area A, Thickness L, conductivity  K  and a temperature difference between the internal and external surface.

Q=KA(t2-t1)/L

To know the heat flux we simply divide both sides of the equation by the area.

Flux=K(t2-t1)/L

where

K=0.029w/mk

L=25mm=0.025m

t2-t1=12 ° C

solving

Flux=(0.029)(12)/(0.025)

flux=13.92W/m^2

When an object is electrically polarized
marta [7]

Answer:

One side is more positive, the other is more negative

Explanation:

When an atom is electrically polarized, it means that one side has more electrons than the other. This makes one side more negative as it has more electrons than the other. I hope this helps!

A 1.2-kg mass suspended from a spring of spring constant 22 N.m-1 executes simple harmonic motion of amplitude 5 cm. What is the
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

a)  T = 1,467 s , b)    A = 0.495 m , c)  v = 4.97 10⁻² m / s

Explanation:

The simple harmonic movement is described by the expression

        x = A cos (wt + Ф)

Where the angular velocity is

       w = √ k / m

a) Ask the period

Angular velocity, frequency and period are related

      w = 2π f = 2π / T

      T = 2π / w

      T = 2pi √ m / k

      T = 2π √ (1.2 / 22)

      T = 1,467 s

      f = 1 / T

      f = 0.68 Hz

b) ask the amplitude

The mechanical energy of a harmonic oscillator

        E = ½ k A²

       A = √2 E / k

       A = √ (2 2.7 / 22)

       A = 0.495 m

c) the mass changes to 8.0 kg

As released from rest Ф = 0, the equation remains

         x = A cos wt

        w = √ (22/8)

        w = 1,658

         x = 3.0 cos (1,658 t)

Speed is

         v = dx / dt

         v = -A w sin wt

The speed is maximum when without wt = ±1

         v = Aw

         v = 0.03    1,658

         v = 4.97 10⁻² m / s

A sled is accelerating down a hill at a rate of 1 m s2 . If the mass of the sled is suddenly cut in half and the net force on th
mihalych1998 [28]
We have that F=ma from the 2nd Newton law where F is the force, m is the mass and a is the acceleration. Suppose we have that F' is the new force and m' is the new mass. Then, we have that a'=F'/m' still, by rearranging Newton's law. We are given that F'=2F and m'=m/2. Hence,
a'= \frac{2F}{ \frac{m}{2} } = \frac{4F}{m} = 4\frac{F}{m}
But now, we have from F=ma, that a=F/m and we are given that a=1m/s^2.
We can substitute thus, a'=4a=4*1m/s^2=4m/s^2.
