Since crab are aquatic animals and thus when they are placed in freshwater, they do not get sufficient salt concentration to make themselves survive. The cells of the crab body (which was hyper tonic in salt water) will now become hypo tonic. Thus the osmo-regulation process will lower down thereby reducing the osmotic pressure as compared to the fluid outside. Also the distilled water lacks basic nutrients required for the crab and its family to survive.

The crabs are salt water organisms, so they'll have a higher concentration gradient than the distilled water. In other words, they're hypertonic to the distilled water. This will cause them to take on water and expand; their cells bursting.

In three to five sentences, explain why animal cells do not require a cell wall or a central vacuole for their functions. 15 poi
vaieri [72.5K]

Explanation:

Animals do not possess any sort of cell wall since animals always move, they are not static in one particular place, therefore they need to be flexible.Animal cells lack the thick cell wall that plant cells have, so there is no need for a central vacuole to exert pressure on the surrounding cell

How does the structure of a carbohydrate allow it to perform its function?
timama [110]

Answer:

Carbohydrates are organic molecules ONLY composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen molecules. So, their structure would be just covalent bonds between the three elements, and most likely non-polar. They give out a lot of energy, and carbohydrates are also known as sugars. Most foods have them.
