Here's another way; You divide 1 by 8, because 1/8 is equal to 1 ÷ 8, and 1 ÷ 8 is equal to (0.125). So if you multiply 1.25 by 16 you'll get 2. Hope this way helps, if you're confused I don't blame you. xD

What is the area of the actual square window shown in the scale drawing?
larisa86 [58]

The area of the actual square window = 2.25 m².

Scale Drawing

Scale drawing relates the actual length of an object to its length on a paper.

Given a scale of 1 in = 2 m, it means 1 in on paper is about 2 m of the actual length of the object.

Thus:

 • Length on scale drawing = 0.75 in
 • Actual length = x

Therefore:

1/2 = 0.75/x

 • Cross multiply

x = 1.5 m

Area of the actual square window = 1.5² = 2.25 m².

Solve for x
3(x - 2) = 6x - 12
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:x=2

Step-by-step explanation:

3(x-2)=6x-12

3x-6=6x-12

Collect like terms

6x-3x=12-6

3x=6

Divide both sides by 3

3x/3=6/3

x=2

An earthquake causes a 3 kg book to fall from a shelf. If the book lands with a speed of 4.0 m/s, from what height did it fall?
r-ruslan [8.4K]
Given:
3kg book
speed of falling of 4.0 m/s
acceleration due to gravity -9.8 m/s²

Vf² = Vi² + 2 * a * d

Vf = final velocity ; Vi = initial velocity ; a = acceleration ; d = distance

0² = (4 m/s)² + 2(-9.8m/s²) * d
0 = 16 m²/s² -19.6 m/s² * d
-16 m²/s² = -19.6 m/s² * d
-16 m²/s² / -19.6 m/s² = d
0.82 m = distance

The 3 kg book fell from the a shelf at the height of 0.82 meters.
