At heart we're being asked for a line through two points,

(40^\circ \textrm{ C}, 355 \textrm { m/s}) \quad \textrm{and} \quad (49^\circ \textrm{ C}, 360 \textrm { m/s})

In general the line through (a,b) and (c,d) is

(y-b)(c-a)=(x-a)(d-b)

Check that you understand why both (a,b) and (c,d) are on this line.

Here our indepedent variable, instead of x, is T, temperature. Our dependent variable is v, velocity. Substituting,

(v - 355)(49 - 40) = (T - 40)(360 - 355)

9(v - 355) = 5(T - 40)

v-355 = \frac 5 9 T - \frac{200}{9}

v= \frac 5 9 T - \frac{200}{9} + 355

v= \frac 5 9 T + \frac{2995}{9}

That's our answer; let's check it.

When T=40, v = (5/9)40 + (2995/9) = 355 good

When T=49, v= (5/9)49 + (2995/9) = 360 good

What is the difference between the exact simple interest and the ordinary simple interest on a 200-day loan of 5,000 at 12%
77julia77 [94]

Answer:

  4.56

Step-by-step explanation:

"Ordinary" interest will be more than "exact" interest because the number of days in a year is a smaller value. The difference will be ...

  Io = Prt = 5000(0.12)(200/360) = 333.33

  Ie = Prt = 5000(0.12)(200/365) = 328.77

The difference is ...

  333.33 -328.77 = 4.56 . . . the difference in interest values

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

The question asks for the difference between exact and ordinary interest, so the result is technically negative:

  328.77 -333.33 = -4.56

A rectangular banner covers an area of 2 7/8ft2. The length of the banner is 3/4ft. What is the width of the banner in ft?
hichkok12 [17]

Answer:

Width of the rectangular banner is 3\frac{5}{6} ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of the rectangular banner = 2\frac{7}{8} square feet

                                                    = \frac{23}{8} square feet

Area of rectangle is given by,

Area = Length × Width

Length of the banner = \frac{3}{4} feet

From the formula,

\frac{23}{8}=\frac{3}{4}\times W

W = \frac{\frac{23}{8} }{\frac{3}{4} }

    = \frac{23}{8}\times \frac{4}{3}

    = \frac{23}{6}

     = 3\frac{5}{6} ft

Therefore, width of the rectangular banner is 3\frac{5}{6} ft

Answer:

The first one

Scale factor is 7

x = 3

The second one

Scale factor is 9

x = 99

Step-by-step explanation:

The first one

You can find out by dividing 49 by 7 which is 7

to find x =  21 divided by 7 is 3

The second one

You can find out by dividing 162 by 18 which is 9

to find x =  11 multiplied by 9 (since it is "opposite") is 99
