At heart we're being asked for a line through two points,

(40^\circ \textrm{ C}, 355 \textrm { m/s}) \quad \textrm{and} \quad (49^\circ \textrm{ C}, 360 \textrm { m/s})

In general the line through (a,b) and (c,d) is

(y-b)(c-a)=(x-a)(d-b)

Check that you understand why both (a,b) and (c,d) are on this line.

Here our indepedent variable, instead of x, is T, temperature. Our dependent variable is v, velocity. Substituting,

(v - 355)(49 - 40) = (T - 40)(360 - 355)

9(v - 355) = 5(T - 40)

v-355 = \frac 5 9 T - \frac{200}{9}

v= \frac 5 9 T - \frac{200}{9} + 355

v= \frac 5 9 T + \frac{2995}{9}

That's our answer; let's check it.

When T=40, v = (5/9)40 + (2995/9) = 355 good

When T=49, v= (5/9)49 + (2995/9) = 360 good

Travis bought $9.45 worth of 49-cent stamps and 21-cent stamps. The number of 21-cent stamps was 5 fewer than the number of 49-c
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

15 49-cent stamps

Step-by-step explanation:

We can solve this problem with the equations <em>0.49(x) + 0.21(y) = 9.45 </em>and <em>x - 5 = y</em>. Well, 0.49(15) + 0.21(10) = 9.45, so we know that there are 15 49-cent stamps and 10 21-cent stamps. The question is asking for the number of 49-cent stamps, so we can tell Travis bought 15 49-cent stamps.

Hope this helps! Plz give me brainliest, it will help me achieve my next rank.

The number of permutations of n elements taken r at a time is given by the formula ________.
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer:

P(n,r) = \dfrac{n!}{(n-r)!}

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to fill the blank.

The number of permutations of n elements taken r at a time is given by the formula:

P(n,r) =^nP_r = \dfrac{n!}{(n-r)!}

Permutation is an arrangement of subsets of a larger set in regard with order of the arrangement.

where n is the the larger set and we have to choose r items from n such that there is no repetition.

In permutation, order is important.
