3/4 is bigger 3 out of 4 is close to the whole portion and 2 out of 5 is a smaller portion drawing a picture is good to figure it out. You can draw 2 chocolate bars or something and find the difference

1. A ball's position, in meters, as it travels every second is represented by the position function s(t) = 4.9t2+ 450.
bezimeni [28]
1) The ball's position is described by:
s(t) = 4.9t² + 450
We want to find the velocity, which is the 1st-order derivative of the displacement function (I assume this is an introductory calculus class)
s'(t) = v(t) = 9.8t
We get this by multiplying 4.9 x 2 and reducing the exponent by 1. Now we simply plug 5 in for t.
v(5) = 9.8* 5
v(5) = 49m/s

2) Our cost function is C(x) = x² - 10,000
To find the average rate of change between these units, we use this formula:
( C(101) - C(100) ) ÷1 .
We find the change in C, and divide by the change in x, which is just one.
C(101) = 101² - 10,000
C(101) = 201

C(100) = 100² - 10,000
C(100= 0

C(101) - C(100) = 201
Average rate of change in cost is 201 dollars/ unit between the two points.

Find the zeros of y = x + 6x- 4 by completing the square.
dsp73

Answer:

\large\boxed{x=-3\pm\sqrt{13}}

Step-by-step explanation:

(a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2\qquad(*)\\\\\\x^2+6x-4=0\qquad\text{add 4 to both sides}\\\\x^2+2(x)(3)=4\qquad\text{add}\ 3^2=9\ \text{to both sides}\\\\\underbrace{x^2+2(x)(3)+3^2}_{(*)}=4+9\\\\(x+3)^2=13\Rightarrow x+3=\pm\sqrt{13}\qquad\text{subtract 3 from both sides}\\\\x=-3\pm\sqrt{13}

if you deposit $8000 into an account paying 9% annual interest compunded semi anually how long will it take for your money to do
Anna007 [38]

Answer:

7.87 years

Step-by-step explanation:

#First we determine the effective annual rate based on the 9% compounded semi annual;

i_m=(1+i/m)^m-1\\\\=(1+0.09/2)^2-1\\\\=0.09203

#We then use this effective rate in the compound interest formula to solve for n. Given that the principal doubles after 2 yrs:

A=P(1+i)^n\\\\A=2P, i=i_m\\\\16000=8000(1.09203)^n\\\\2=1.09203^n\\\\n=\frac{log \ 2}{log \ 1.09203}\\\\=7.87324\approx7.87 \ yrs

Hence, it takes 7.87 years for the principal amount to double.
