A skier has decided that on each trip down a slope, she will do 2 more jumps than before. On her first trip she did 6 jumps. Der

ive the sigma notation that shows how many total jumps she attempts from her fourth trip down the hill through her twelfth trip. Then solve for how many total jumps she attempts from her fourth trip down the hill through her twelfth trip.
I tried to answer, but I don't really know how to even set it up... :/

The <em>correct answers</em> are:

\Sigma_{n=4}^{12} 6+2(n-1) \\ \\=180

Explanation:

Since she is adding two more jumps every time she goes down hill, this is an arithmetic sequence. The general form of an arithmetic sequence is

a_n=a_1+d(n-1), \\ \text{where } a_n \text{represents the nth term, } a_1 \text{represents the first term, and n represents the term number}

Since we want the number of jumps on her 4th through 12th trips, we will set n in the summation from 4 to 12. n=4 goes at the bottom of Σ and 12 goes at the top, to represent the values we are interested in.

Beside this, we write our general form. The first term is 6 and d, the common difference, is 2. This gives us 6+2(n-1) beside the summation:

\Sigma_{n=4}^{12} 6+2(n-1)

To evaluate this, we substitute the values 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 in for n, adding all of the values together:

6+2(4-1)+6+2(5-1)+6+2(6-1)+6+2(7-1)+6+2(8-1)+6+2(9-1)+6+2(10-1)+6+2(11-1)+6+2(12-1)

=6+6+6+8+6+10+6+12+6+14+6+16+6+18+6+20+6+22

=180

I'll just manually compute this one. Every attempt she will add 2 more jumps.

Attempt           Jumps       Accumulated Jumps
1                          6                         6
2                          8                       14
3                         10                      24
4                         12                      36
5                         14                      50
6                         16                      66
7                         18                      84
8                         20                    104
9                         22                    126
10                       24                    150
11                       26                    176
12                       28                    204

Total jumps from 4th trip through 12th trip: 204 - 24 = 180 jumps

Prove the quotient of any two rational numbers is a rational number
Brut [27]
That is not possible, a quotient or any equation for that fact can only be rational when it lacks repeating {x} values. Take for instance this 2x11x2^2+(1+10)=

In the equation the {x} values would be most likely described as {2}. Since 2 was the quotient that was being repeating hence that equation not being rational. Hope this helps!

X2 + y2 + 42x + 38y − 47 = 0. The equation of this circle in standard form is
erastova [34]

The Standard form of the equation of circle is (x+21)² + (y+19)² = 849

<h3>What is Standard form of circle?</h3>

To transform general form to a standard form, you can use completing the square method or you can convert this equation

x² + y² + Dx + Ey + F = 0 to x² + y² + (-2h)x + (-2k)y + (h²+k²-r²) = 0

Here, Given: x² + y² + 42x + 38y − 47 = 0

Required: Find the values of h, k, and r using this formula

x² + y² + (-2h)x + (-2k)y + (h²+k²-r²) = 0

On comparing we get,

-2h = 42

  h = 21

-2k = 38

 k = 19

-47 = h² + k² - r²

-47 = 21² + 19² - r²

   r² = 849

  r = √849

Thus, the Standard form of the equation of circle is (x+21)² + (y+19)² = 849

Find the number of sides for a regular polygon whose interior angles each measure 10 times each exterior angle
gavmur [86]

Answer:

22 sides

Step-by-step explanation:

The expression to find an interior angle of a polygon is:

\frac{(n-2)*180}{n}

The expression to find an exterior angle of a polygon is:

\frac{360}{n}

Please note that "n" represents the number of sides the polygon has.

We can use these two expressions to set up an equation.

\frac{(n-2)*180}{n}=10(\frac{360}{n})

Multiply both sides by "n":

(n-2)*180=10n(\frac{360}{n})

Now, distribute:

180(n)-180(2)=\frac{3600n}{n}\\180n-360=3600

Divide both sides by 10:

\frac{180n}{10}-\frac{360}{10}=\frac{3600}{10}\\

18n-36=360

Add 36 to both sides:

18n=360+36\\18n=396

Divide both sides by 18:

n=22

The polygon has 22 sides

6³ ÷ 4 + 2 x 9(32 x 8 – 17 x 4).
inn [45]

ANSWER

3438

EXPLANATION:

<em>PARENTHESIS FIRST</em>

32 x 8 = 256

17 x 4 = 68

256 - 68 = 188

(<u>now the equation is, 6³ ÷ 4 + 2 x 9 (188))</u>

<u />

<em>EXPONENTS NEXT</em>

6³= 216

(<u>now the equation is, 216 ÷ 4 + 2 x 9 (188))</u>

<u />

<em>MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION NEXT (left to right)</em>

216 ÷ 4 = 54

2 x 9 = 18

18 x 188 = 84

(<u>now the equation is, 54 + 3384)</u>

<u />

<em>LASTLY ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION (left to right)</em>

54 + 3384 = 3438
