Answer: $6.50

Justification:

Work backward step by step.

1) Total bill: $125 given

2) Value of five scarves: multiply the number of scarves time the unit price

 5 * $12.00 = $ 60.00

3) Value of the socks: subtract the value of the scarves from the total bill

$ 125 - $ 60 = $65

4) divide $65 by the total number of pair of socks

If each bought two pairs, the total number of pairs is 5 * 2 = 10

So, the price of one pair is $65 / 10 = $6.50

Now,  you can verify:

- two pairs of socks each sister * 5 sisters = 10 pairs

- 10 pairs of socks at $6.50 each = 10*$6.50 = $ 65

- Five scarves at $ 12 each = 5 * $12 = $ 60

- Total bill = $ 65 + $ 60 = $ 125 => check.

Which shows a correct order to solve this story problem? Each morning Mike bikes 3.5 miles. Each afternoon he bikes 2.3 miles. H
Grace [21]
Ok so
since we h ave
3.5=1 day's morning
and
2.3=1 day's afternoon
we need to add them to find 1 day and multiply by 6 (number of days)
that answer is not listted so we make into anohter form
this wold be
6 times (3.5 +2.3)
if we distributed
a(b+c)=ab+ac
6(3.5+2.3)=6 times 3.5+6 times 2.3

At track practice, Coach Wilson told the team to split into groups of four for a special relay. The first runner had to run 1 la
amid [387]
You can multiply the number of laps each person ran by the yards in each lap and then add them together:

440 + 2(440) + 3(440) + 4(440)
= 440 + 880 + 1,320 + 1,760
= 4,440 yards

Or you can add the laps first, then multiply by the yards in each lap
(1 + 2 + 3 + 4)(440)
= 10 x 440
= 4,400 yards
