Answer: Option (d) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

The given reaction will be as follows.

       Ba(OH)_{2}(aq) + H_{2}SO_{4}(aq) \rightarrow BaSO_{4}(s) + 2H_{2}O(l)

In the ionic form, the equation will be as follows.

           Ba^{2+}(aq) + SO^{2-}_{4}(aq) \rightarrow BaSO_{4}(s) ........ (1)

           H^{+}(aq) + OH^{-}(aq) \rightarrow H_{2}O(l) ............ (2)

Hence, for the net ionic equation we need to add both equation (1) and (2). Therefore, the net ionic equation will be as follows.

     Ba^{2+}(aq) + SO^{2-}_{4}(aq) + H^{+}(aq) + OH^{-}(aq) \rightarrow BaSO_{4}(s) + H_{2}O(l)

Now, balancing the atoms on both the sides we get the net ionic equation as follows.

         Ba^{2+}(aq) + SO^{2-}_{4}(aq) + 2H^{+}(aq) + 2OH^{-}(aq) \rightarrow BaSO_{4}(s) + 2H_{2}O(l)

Select all that identify a covalent bond.

Heres the best help i can give you There is a couple different ways to determine if a bond is ionic or covalent. By definition, an ionic bond is between a metal and a nonmetal, and a covalent bond is between 2 nonmetals. So you usually just look at the periodic table and determine whether your compound is made of a metal/nonmetal or is just 2 nonmetals

46. True or false. Chemical reactions do not involve changes in the chemical bonds that join
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Chemical reactions do not involve changes in the chemical bonds that join

atoms in compounds :

<u>False</u>

Explanation:

Chemical reaction are the reaction in which old bonds break and new  bonds are formed . The formation of new bond result in formation of new compounds . This happen because new bond are result of linking different atoms by the bond.

For example : Water formation from Oxygen and Hydrogen is a chemical process :

2H_{2}+O_{2}\rightarrow 2H_{2}O

Original(old) bonds are :

H-H bond in H2 and O-O bonds in O2

In H2 = Hydrogen is joined to Hydrogen

IN O2 = Oxygen is joined to oxygen

New Bonds =

O-H bonds in water (H2O)

Oxygen is joined to hydrogen = New Bond formation

Hence,

<u>Chemical reactions do involve changes in the chemical bonds that join </u>

<u>atoms in compounds</u>

what is the limiting reactant when 1.50g of lithium and 1.50 g of nitrogen combine to form lithium nitride, a component of advan
PSYCHO15rus [73]
<h3>Answer:</h3>

Limiting reactant is Lithium

<h3>Explanation:</h3>

<u>We are given;</u>

  1. Mass of Lithium as 1.50 g
  2. Mass of nitrogen is 1.50 g

We are required to determine the rate limiting reagent.

  • First, we write the balanced equation for the reaction

6Li(s) + N₂(g) → 2Li₃N

From the equation, 6 moles of Lithium reacts with 1 mole of nitrogen.

  • Second, we determine moles of Lithium and nitrogen given.

Moles = Mass ÷ Molar mass

Moles of Lithium

Molar mass of Li = 6.941 g/mol

Moles of Li = 1.50 g ÷ 6.941 g/mol

                   = 0.216 moles

Moles of nitrogen gas

Molar mass of Nitrogen gas is 28.0 g/mol

Moles of nitrogen gas = 1.50 g ÷ 28.0 g/mol

                                     = 0.054 moles

  • According to the equation, 6 moles of Lithium reacts with 1 mole of nitrogen.
  • Therefore, 0.216 moles of lithium will require 0.036 moles (0.216 moles ÷6) of nitrogen gas.
  • On the other hand, 0.054 moles of nitrogen, would require 0.324 moles of Lithium.

Thus, Lithium is the limiting reagent while nitrogen is in excess.
