7m+3(m+2)=-24
Distribute
3(m+2)=3m+6
7m+3m+6=-24
Combine like terms
7m+3m=10m
10m+6=24
Do the additive inverse of addition
-24-6=
Do keep change change
-24+-6=-30
10m=-30
Do the inverse of division/multiplication
the m cancels out
-30÷10=-3
because a negative divided by a positive equals a negative the result is -3
this is why it is -3.

Use the simplest rule you can find to calculate the next three terms of the following sequence. 8, 3, 0, –1, 0, . . . a. 0, 0, 0
Luba_88 [7]
Rule: second differences are 2.

Selection C is appropriate.

_____
First differences are the sequence of differences of the given numbers:
.. 3 -8 = -5
.. 0 -3 = -3
.. -1 -0 = -1
.. 0 -(-1) = 1
Second differences are the sequence of differences of these:
.. -3 -(-5) = 2
.. -1 -(-3) = 2
.. 1 -(-1) = 2
All of these are 2, so the sequence can be described by a *second* order polynomial (because *second* differences are a non-zero constant).

Which situation could be represented by the open sentence 15 - 5 = p?
True [87]

Answer:

Option B.

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find the situation that could be represented by the sentence 15-5=P.

Option A:

Stuart is reading a book that has a total of 15 chapters. He reads 5 chapters every day. How many days will it take Stuart to finish the book?

Let the number of days be d.

15-5d=0

Option B:

Stuart is reading a book that has a total of 15 chapters. He has already read 5 chapters. How many chapters of the book are left for Stuart to read?

Let the number of remaining chapters be p.

15-5=p

Option C:

Stuart is reading a book that has a total of 15 chapters. This book has 5 chapters less than the book Stuart read last week. How many chapters were in the book Stuart read last week?

Let the number of chapters in the book Stuart read last week be n.

n-5=15\Rightaarow n=15+5

Option D:

Stuart is reading a book that has a total of 15 chapters. This is 5 times the number of chapters as the book Stuart read last week. How many chapters were in the book Stuart read last week?

Let the number of chapters in the book Stuart read last week be n.

15=5n

Therefore. the correct option is B.
