2\frac{1}{2}=\frac{2\times2+1}{2}=\frac{5}{2}\\\\1\frac{1}{7}=\frac{1\times7+1}{7}=\frac{8}{7}\\\\2\frac{1}{2}:1\frac{1}{7}=\frac{5}{2}:\frac{8}{7}=\frac{5}{2}\times\frac{7}{8}=\frac{35}{16}=\frac{32+3}{16}=\frac{32}{16}+\frac{3}{16}=\boxed{2\frac{3}{16}}

I'm going to change those to 5/2 and 8/7
Dividing is the same multiplying by the reciprocal (reciprocal of x is 1/x, reciprocal of x/y is y/x)
So (5/2)/(8/7)=(5/2)*(7/8)=(5*7)/(2*8)=35/16
Final answer: 35/16
