Please help! Explain ALL your work! My last post was removed. I have more questions (7 questions in total) but I’m not allowed t

o post that many on here at once. Can someone message me and help with all of them? I already have question 1 done, I’m just posting about question 2.
You want to plant a flower garden in your yard. There are two types of flowers that you are going to be planting. You will be planting some tulips and geraniums. At the store tulips come in packs of 6 and geraniums come in packs of 9.

1. What is the least amount of packs of geraniums and tulips you would need to buy to have the same amount of each?
How many should you have of each kind of flower?

You will need 3 packs of tulips and 2 packs of geraniums.
You should have 18 flowers of each kind.

2. Each pack of tulips costs $4.60 and each pack of geraniums cost $5.25. From the previous problem, you know how many packs of each you will need. The sales tax is 6.5%.
How much tax will you be paying for all the flowers, to the nearest cent?

How much total will you be paying for all flowers, to the nearest cent?

Answer:

  • tax: $1.58
  • total: $25.88

Step-by-step explanation:

It should be no surprise that the total bill is the sum of the costs of the items being purchased plus the tax on that sum.

  3 packs of tulips @ $4.60 =  $13.80

  2 packs of geraniums @ $5.25 = $10.50

Subtotal: $13.80 +10.50 = <u>$24.30</u>

  Tax = 0.065 · $24.30 = $1.58

Total cost = $24.30 + 1.58 = $25.88

Kendra is considering two different long-distance phone plans. Phone plan A charges a $100 sign-up fee and 3 cents per minute. P
Fed [463]

Answer:

Part 1) The number of minutes in a month must be greater than 50 in order for the plan A to be preferable

Part 2) The number of minutes in a month must be equal to 50 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The question is</em></u>

Part 1) How many minutes would Kendra have to use in a month in order for the plan A to be preferable? Round your answer to the nearest minute

Part 2) Enter the number of minutes where Kendra will pay the same amount for each long distance phone plan

Part 1)

Let

x ---> the number of minutes

we have

<em>Cost Plan A</em>

3x+100

<em>Cost Plan B</em>

5x

we know that

In order for plan A to be cheaper than plan B, the following inequality must hold true.

cost of plan A < cost of plan B

substitute

3x+100 < 5x

solve for x

subtract 3x both sides

100< 5x-3x\\100

divide by 2 both sides

50 < x

Rewrite

x> 50\ min

therefore

The number of minutes in a month must be greater than 50 in order for the plan A to be preferable

Part 2)

Let

x ---> the number of minutes

we have

<em>Cost Plan A</em>

3x+100

<em>Cost Plan B</em>

5x

we know that

In order for plan A cost the same than plan B, the following equation must hold true.

cost of plan A = cost of plan B

substitute

3x+100= 5x

solve for x

5x-3x=100\\2x=100\\x=50\ min

therefore

The number of minutes in a month must be equal to 50 minutes

Write the equation of a hyperbola centered at the origin with x-intercepts +/- 4 and foci of +/-2(sqrt5)
Xelga [282]

Answer:

\frac{x^2}{16}-\frac{b^2}{4}=1

Step-by-step explanation:

A hyperbola is the locus of a point such that its distance from a point to two points (known as foci) is a positive constant.

The standard equation of a hyperbola centered at the origin with transverse on the x axis is given as:

\frac{x^2}{a^2}-\frac{y^2}{b^2}=1

The coordinates of the foci is at (±c, 0), where c² = a² + b²

Given that  a hyperbola centered at the origin with x-intercepts +/- 4 and foci of +/-2√5. Since the x intercept is ±4, this means that at y = 0, x = 4. Substituting in the standard equation:

\frac{x^2}{a^2}-\frac{y^2}{b^2}=1\\\frac{4^2}{a^2}-\frac{0}{b^2} =1\\\frac{4^2}{a^2}=1\\ a^2=16\\a=\sqrt{16}=4\\ a=4

The foci c is at +/-2√5, using c² = a² + b²:

c^2=a^2+b^2\\(2\sqrt{5} )^2=4^2+b^2\\20 = 16 + b^2\\b^2=20-16\\b^2=4\\b=\sqrt{4}=2\\ b=2

Substituting the value of a and b to get the equation of the hyperbola:

\frac{x^2}{a^2}-\frac{y^2}{b^2}=1\\\\\frac{x^2}{16}-\frac{b^2}{4}=1

Marely walked around 2 rectangular parks. One measures 54 feet by 38 feet and the other measures 32 feet by 22 feet.
galben [10]

Answer:

130 feet or 39.6m

Step-by-step explanation:

for Marely's first rectangular park, L=54 and B= 38

Total perimeter of distance walked in first rectangular park is 2(L+B), which is 2(54+38) =184 feet

For Marely's second rectangular park, L= 32 and B=22

Total perimeter of second distance 2(L+B), which is 2(32+22) = 108 feet

Total perimeter covered by Marely = (P1+P2) 184+108 = 292 feet

Marely's brother = 2(L+B)

2(48+33) = 162 feet

Hence, difference is 292-162 = 130 feet or 39.6m

Last season two running back's on the college football team rush for a combined 1550 yards one rushed four times as many yards a
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

The player with the most runs had a rush of 1,240 yards

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are asked to calculate the number of yards that was rushed by one of two person given their combined run and an extra information.

Firstly, let the person that had the smaller number of rush have a rush of x rushes. The second person has a rush of 4 times the other. This makes a number of 4x rushes

By adding both together, we have a total of 1550 yards

Mathematically, this means that x + 4x = 1550

5x = 1550

x = 1550/5 = 310 rushes

The second player had a rush of 4x and that is 4 * 310 = 1,240 rushes
