Answer and step-by-step explanation for question - 12 :

The~five~digit~number~contains~of~5's~and~2's.~The~5's are~in~the~ten~thousand~and~one~thousand~columns.~Which~means~that~ one~five~represent~50,000~and~the~second~represents~5,000. ~The 2's~are ~in~the~hundreds~and~tens~columns~meaning~one~2 represents~200~and~the~other~2~represents~20.~In~a~direct comparison~of~these~numbers~the~5's~equal~55,000~and~the~2's~equal 220.

Answer and step-by-step explanation for question - 13 :

Forks~needed= 2000-1996=4

Knives~needed=2000-1745=225

Extra~spoons=2116-2000=116

Thus,4~forks~are~needed,255~knives~are~needed~and,116~spoons~are~extra.

Answers and Step-by-step explanation:

12: The 5s are worth a lot more than the 2s. The 5s are worth fifty thousand and five thousand whereas the 2s are only worth two hundred and twenty.

13: She needs 4 forks (2000 - 1996 = 4)

    She needs 255 knives (2000 - 1745 = 255)

    She has 226 extra spoons ( 2116 - 2000 =  116)

The quotient of a number and - 2/3 is -9/10
FromTheMoon [43]
Hey there!

For this problem, I believe that they're saying that a number divided by –2/3 is equal to –9/10.

We can tell immediately that the mystery number is a positive number, since two negative numbers being divided by one another will give you a positive quotient.

For actually solving the problem, you can refer to what you learned (presumably) a while ago about number families:

9 / 3 = 3
3 * 3 = 9

Using that, you can assume the following will get you your mystery number:

x / –2/3 = –9/10
–9/10 * –2/3 = x

For multiplying fractions, all you need to do is multiply the numerators and the denominators together. The denominator doesn't have to be the same on both fractions.

(–9/10) * (–2/3) = 18/30 = 9/15

To check, all you have to do is remember the original problem:

(9/15) / (–2/3) =
(9/15) * (–3/2) = –27/30 = –9/10

When multiplying fractions, remember that the negative applies to both the denominator and numerator. Also, when dividing fractions, you will multiply the (untouched) first fraction by the second fraction with the numerator and denominator, aka the reciprocal.

Hope this helped you out! :-)

The functions f(x) and g(x) in the table below show Kim's and Ben's savings respectively, in dollars, after x days. Some values
frutty [35]

The table can be filled in as follows:

\begin{array}{r|cccc}x(days)&1&2&3&4\\g(x)=3^x&3&9&27&81\\f(x)=3x+5&8&11&14&17\end{array}

After 3 days, Kim's savings already exceeds Ben's, and is increasing at a faster rate. The appropriate descriptor is ...

... Kim will save more than Ben

_____

An exponential function increases faster than any polynomial function. (A linear function is a polynomial function.)

If Kim keeps up her savings for 28 days, her account balance will exceed the US Gross National Product of more than $20 trilliion. (Exponential functions tend to increase very rapidly!) Meanwhile, Ben's savings will be $89 on day 28.

_____

Please note the discrepancy in the problem statement. The verbiage says "days", but the table shows "years".
