t_daily = t_average +/- 5

The highest temperature would be

t_daily = t_average + 5

t_daily = 1 + 5

t_daily = 6

================

The Lowest temperature would be

t_daily = t_average - 5

t_daily = 1 - 5

t_daily = - 4
