<span>1st train DATA:
rate = 50 mph ; time = x hrs ; distance = rt = 50x miles

2nd train DATA:
rate = 55 mph ; time = (x-(1/2)) hrs ; distance = rt = 55(x-(1/2)) miles

Equation:
distance = distance
50x = 55(x-(1/2)
50x = 55x - (55/2)
-5x = -55/2
x = 11/2
x = 5 1/2 hrs (time at which the 2nd train overtakes the 1st train)
Hope this helps!

Disatnce=speed times time

x is time in hours
the other train will travel with half an hour less
so the faster train is 55(x-0.5)
when will they travel the same distance?

50x=55(x-0.5)
50x=55x-27.5
minus 50x both sides
0=5x-27.5
add 27.5 both sides
27.5=5x
divide both sides by 5
5.5=x

after 5.5 hours or 5 hours and 30 mins

and the faster train is 55(x-0.5)

D - Add, Subtract, Multiply, and Divide Integer A submarine Is at a depth of 350 feet below sea level. It makes the following mo
Westkost [7]

We have the next information

A submarine Is at a depth of 350 feet below sea level means -350

First, it goes down 150 feet. means -150

Next, it goes up 132 feet. means +132

Then, it goes down 179 feet. means -179

Finally, it goes down 145 feet means -145

then we have the next operations

-350+(-150)+132+(-179)+(-145)=-692

The sing minus means that It is below the sea level

therefore the correct choice is

A It is 692 feet below sea level, because -350 + (-150) + 132 + (-179) + (-145) = -692.

PLEASE HELP!!!!! IT IS URGENT
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

B:  to get 4/8 = 1/2 That is not the whole answer, but it gets one started.

D: Very large because -4 -(-9) = 5 That's the power. This is going to make the result large.

That's all I would pick, but the second from the bottom might be an answer.
