Find the missing side. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.<br> х<br> 28°<br> 42 in<br> in
sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

The length of the missing side x = 47.57 in

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Ф = 28°

The length of the side adjacent to the angle Ф is = 42 in

To determine

The hypotenuse x = ?

Using the trigonometric ratio

cos Ф = adjacent / hypotenuse

substitute adjacent = 42 in, hypotenuse = x and Ф = 28°

cos 28° = 42 / x

x = 42 / cos 28°

x = 47.57 in

Therefore, the length of the missing side x = 47.57 in

Let a, b, c, and d be real numbers with a, c 6= 0. Prove that the lines y = ax+b and y = cx + d have the same x-intercept if and
Monica [59]

Step-by-step explanation:

We have got the lines :

y=ax+b\\y=cx+d

Both lines intercept the x-axis in the point :

I = (i_{1} ,i_{2})

In all point from x-axis the y-component is equal to 0.

I=(i_{1},o)

We replace the I point in the lines equations:

0=a(i_{1})+b \\0=c(i_{1})+d

From the first equation :

0=a(i_{1})+b \\-b=a(i_{1})\\i_{1}=\frac{-b}{a}

From the second equation :

0=c(i_{1})+d\\ -d=c(i_{1})\\i_{1}=\frac{-d}{c}

Then i_{1}=i_{1}

Finally :

\frac{-b}{a}=\frac{-d}{c} \\\frac{b}{a}=\frac{d}{c} \\ad=bc

y = ax + b and y = cx + d have the same x-intercept ⇔ad=bc

The answer is is 26, -44, but i dont understand how to solve it. can you explain?
Anna [14]
║a+9║/7=5
you multiply 7 on both sides which cancel out 7.
now it ║a=9║=35
and now it would be a+9=35 and a+9=-35 then solve it.
35-9 and 9-(-35)= 26 and -44
hope this helped!

Tan^2x+sec^2x=1 for all values of x. <br> true or false?
amid [387]

This is not true.

\tan^2x+\sec^2x=\dfrac{\sin^2x}{\cos^2x}+\dfrac1{\cos^2x}=\dfrac{1-\cos^2x+1}{\cos^2x}=2\sec^2x-1

2\sec^2x-1=1\implies\sec^2x=1\implies\sec x=\pm1\implies x=n\pi

where is n is any integer. So suppose we pick some value of x other than these, say x=\dfrac\pi4. Then

\tan^2\dfrac\pi4+\sec^2\dfrac\pi4=1+2=3\neq1
