Answer:

i got 70

Step-by-step explanation:

Brain   4           Brain gets 42 more sweets Sara

Pip      5           How many sweets does Pip get?

Sara    1

when   b = s + 42            find p        b = 4s    p = 5s

           4s = s + 42                           b/4 = s      p = 5b/4

           3s = 42

             s = 14           b = 56         p = 70

I initially found the answer by trail and error, then I could figure out the equation.

s     b      p

1     4      5

10   40   50

16   64   90

14   56   70

lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

0.06597

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that thirty-seven percent of the American population has blood type O+

Five Americans are tested for blood group.

Assuming these five Americans are not related, we can say that each person is independent of the other to have O+ blood group.

Also probability of any one having this blood group = p = 0.37

So X no of Americans out of five who were having this blood group is binomial with p =0.37 and n =5

Required probability

=The probability that at least four of the next five Americans tested will have blood type O+

= P(X\geq 4)\\= P(X=4)+P(x=5)\\= 5C4 (0.37)^4 (1-0.37) + 5C5 (0.37)^5\\= 0.06597

What are the solutions to the equation <br><img src="https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=2%20%7Cx%20-%202%7C%20%20-%208%20%3D%2020" id="TexF

The solutions of the equation are -12 and 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Absolute value describes the distance of a number on the number line from 0 without considering which direction from zero the number lies. The absolute value of a number is never negative, if IxI = a, where a > 0, then

  • x = a
  • x = -a

∵ 2Ix - 2I - 8 = 20

- At first add 8 to both sides

∴ 2Ix - 2I = 28

- Then divide both sides by 2

∴ Ix - 2I = 14

Now By using the notes above equate x - 2 by 14 and -14

∵ x - 2 = 14

- Add 2 to both sides

∴ x = 16

∵ x - 2 = -14

- Add 2 to both sides

∴ x = -12

The solutions of the equation are -12 and 16
