A ball is hung from a rope, making a pendulum. When it is pulled 5° to the side, the restoring force is 1.0 N. What will be the

magnitude of the restoring force if the ball is pulled 10° to the side?

Answer:

restoring force is 2 N

Explanation:

given data

angle pulled = 5°

force = 1 N

pulled = 10°

to find out

restoring force

solution

we know here force

force = m×g×sinθ     ..........1

so here θ is very small so sinθ = θ

1 = mg(5)

mg = 1 /5     ..................2

and

now for 10 degree

we know here θ is small so sinθ = θ

so from equation 1

force = m×g×sinθ

put equation 2 here

force = 1/5 × 10

force = 2 N

so restoring force is 2 N

Using a rope that will snap if the tension in it exceeds 356 N, you need to lower a bundle of old roofing material weighing 478
klasskru [66]

Answer:

a) 2.5 m/s²

b) 6.12 m/s

Explanation:

Tension of rope = T = 356N

Weight of material = W = 478 N

Distance from the ground = s = 7.5 m

Acceleration due to gravity = g = 9.81 m/s²

Mass of material = m = 478/9.81 = 48.72

Final velocity before the bundle hits the ground = v

Initial velocity = u = 0

Acceleration experienced by the material when being lowered = a

a) W-T = ma

⇒478-356 = 48.72×a

\Rightarrow \frac{122}{48.72} = a

⇒a = 2.5 m/s²

∴ Acceleration achieved by the material is 2.5 m/s²

b) v²-u² = 2as

⇒v²-0 = 2×2.5×7.5

⇒v² = 37.5

⇒v = 6.12 m/s

∴ Velocity of the material before hitting the ground is 6.12 m/s

The best method to separates mixture of salt and water is evaporation. Take a small sample of mixture in a china dish. Heat it till all water evaporate. The residual remain is salt. Josh should use this method to separate salt from water.

A particle of mass moves under a force given bywhere and are unit vectors in the and directions. The particle is placed at the o
krek1111 [17]

The elapsed time when the particle returns to the origin is determined from the ratio of initial velocity and acceleration of the particle.

Time of motion of the particle

The time of motion of the particle is calculated by applying Newton's second law of motion.

F = ma

F = m(v)/t

where;

  • t is time of motion of the particle
  • m is mass of the particle
  • v is velocity of the particle

a = v - u/t

v = u + at

when the particle returns to the origin, direction of u, = negative.

final velocity = 0

0 = -u + at

at = u

t = u/a

The official web site of the Nobel Prize explains that Marie Curie’s chemistry prize was partly for her discovery that the radioactivity of a substance is unaffected when it undergoes a chemical reaction. The discovery implied was that, Radioactivity involves Radioactivity involves only neutrons.

Explanation:

  • The official web site of the Nobel Prize explains that Marie Curie’s chemistry prize was partly for her discovery that the radioactivity of a substance is unaffected when it undergoes a chemical reaction. The discovery implied was that, Radioactivity involves only neutrons.
  • Marie Curie studied about the radiation of all compounds containing the known radioactive elements, including uranium and thorium, which she later discovered that they were radioactive.
  • she discovered the following results,
  • the exact measurement of the strength of the radiation from uranium;
  • the intensity of the radiation was found to be proportional to the amount of uranium or thorium in the compound .
  • the ability to emit radiation is not dependent on the arrangement of the atoms in a molecule;
  • it must be linked to the interior of the atom itself which is a revolutionary discovery.

A horizontal force of 750 N is needed to overcome the force of static friction between a level floor and a 250-kg crate. What is
Aleksandr [31]

Answer:

The acceleration of the crate is 1.8 m/s² so the answer is a.

Explanation:

The very first thing you must do when solving this problem is to draw a free body diagram. (The body diagram is attached to this answer)

So once we got the free body diagram, we can analyze it and build our sum of forces in the x and y directions. Notice that according to the diagram, there are 4 forces to this problem, Normal (N), Weight (W), kinetic friction (fk) and the 750N force.

As one may see in the free body diagram, two of the forces are vertical forces: N and W, so we can use them to build a sum of forces:

Starting with the sum of forces in the y-direction, we get:

ΣF_{y}=0

We set the sum equal to zero because there is no movement in the y-direction, so the system is in vertical equilibrium.

so the sum will be:

N-W=0

when solving for N we get that:

N=W

where W is found by multiplying the mass of the crate by the acceleration of gravity:

N=250kg*9.8m/s²

N=2450N

Once we found the normal force, we can use it to find the kinetic friction which is given by the following formula:

f_{k}=Nμ

where μ is the kinetic friction coefficient.

So we get that the kinetic friction is:

f_{k}=2450N*0.12

so

f_{k}=294

With this information we can go ahead and find the sum of horizontal forces:

ΣF_{x}=ma

In this case the sum is equal to mass times acceleration because the crate is moving horizontally due to the action of a force, so it will have an acceleration.

so the sum of forces look like this:

750N-f_{k}=ma

so

750N-294N=(250kg)a

when solving for a we get:

a=\frac{759N-294N}{250kg}\\ \\a=1.8m/s^{2}

so the crate's acceleration is 1.82m/s².
