Hey there!

When we multiply fractions and whole numbers, we simply take that whole number and put it over them, and just multiply across. That gives us:

\frac{1}{2}x*8 = \frac{8}{2} = 4

Notice how it's four, because when we have a fraction, we divide. 8 divided by 2 equals four. Next:

\frac{1}{4} *4 = \frac{4}{4} = 1

4/4 is equal to 1 because 4 divided by 4 is one. 4 goes into 4 once. Next, we have:

\frac{1}{3}*6 = \frac{6}{3} = 2

That's because 6/3 = 2.

Hope this helps!

SashulF [63]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>START:</em> 4x + 10 = - 26 ⇔ 4x = - 36 ⇔ <em>x = - 9</em>

\frac{1}{2} x + 13 = 9 ⇔\frac{1}{2} x = - 4 ⇔ <em>x = 8</em>

\frac{3}{4} x - 9 = 27 ⇔ \frac{3}{4} x = 36 ⇔ <em>x = 48</em>

9 - 2x = 35 2x = - 35 + 9 ⇔ <em>x = - 13</em>

\frac{2}{3} x + 15 = 17 ⇔ \frac{2}{3} x = 2 ⇔ <em>x = 3</em>

- 5x - 10 = 10 ⇔ 5x = - 20 ⇔ <em>x = - 4</em>

Now is your turn. You can do it!!!

Greeley [361]

Answer: Number of children  = 168

Number of adults = 120

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x = Number of children and y = Number of adults

As per given,

x+y=288          (i)

2.25x+6.80y =1194       (ii)

Multiply 2.25 on both sides in (i)

2.25x+2.25y= 648       (iii)

Eliminate (iii) from (ii)

4.55y=546

\Rightarrow y=\dfrac{546}{4.55}\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=120

Put y= 120 in (i)

x+120=288

⇒ x=288-120

⇒ x= 168

Hence, Number of children  = 168

Number of adults = 120

5/8 and 2/3 so...
8 times 3 is 24 so now put your fraction over twenty four
15/24=5/8
15/24 so fifteen out of twenty fourths of the package is what she has. She takes ten out of the fifteenths because fifteen divided by three is five then multiply by two is ten. Then divide by five and you get two.
15/24. 10-> 15/24 cause... 15 divided by 3 ( from the two thirds she cooked) is 5 then * by 2... 5*2=10
